Is it just me or are there a lot fewer pigeons about this year. I live in South Shropshire and not seeing anything like other years. What are other pigeon shooters seeing?

I am waiting for crops to come off, but bags of 300 230 270 240 a 1000 of one block of rape of 150 acres during it's growth time. There was a bag of 1020 in one day came off a field in Boston Linc.
land around towns is the key with the right crop is the key as the birds come out to feed on a line to that field with others following find that line and you should do well.
 
Been about the same as last year here inShropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire borders.
The same flightlines to the same wheat fields.
They don't seem to fussed about barley at the moment.
 
Same as above - never seen so many up here
Very hard to get on with no crops being cur and the pigeon acting like they do in winter - big flocks over 3/4/500 birds
 
As someone posted above, land around towns or cities is a major factor. Good bags are getting shot on the urban fringes now, with the wood pigeons flighting out from the towns to feed in the fields.
 
Plenty about my way had a potter Thursday evening (was meant to be all day) but work got in the way and had good shooting just loitering the hedges between FL’s farmer had cut rape the day before and loads of birds about.

Went last week David - and there was not a million on - but certainly 500/600 hundred
Think i managed 10 shots and 7 birds

They have every field in the area to feed on - so bang and they are gone
But................you never know

I am in fairness going with a very positive (deluded) mind set

Car already full
Dog on charge - for any winged in wood and grass
Me - tucked up in bed
Alarm on
Wife programmed for flask and sandwich duty
Flappers
Bouncers
Spinners
Lofters
Bobbers all sorted

Think i have all avenues covered ???
 
Can you include the County when posting as I know that there are always big numbers SE England. Also include numbers shot. I have gotten bags of 100+ a few times but still not as many as last year. Rape stubble hasn't been as successful for me this year.

Im not !

Just got in - and without being stupid i saw 2000 pigeon first thing

Resisted the temptation as i walked them off to shoot any

Set up - 5 in 5 minutes - though oh here we go !

My mate arrived on his spot 2 hours later and i have reached the heights of 7 !

Another hour another bird and i went and did some jobs on the shoot - just as the combine rolled in

Always tomorrow !

Just spoke to my pal - he is on 13 and has been for 30 minutes - but as hes a bit superstitious hes waiting for another hahahah
