PISTOL FOR HUMANE DESPATCH

I have a .38 revolver on my FAC for humane despatch, needs to have a muzzle brake and be restricted to chambering 2 rounds. Anyone know of a dealer out there who can supply one off the shelf? Preferably south of England.

3 rounds?
think you will find most are three, you may struggle mate However I do know there are a couple of makers that do a "double barrel" affair in .410 and pistol calibres so that my well be what you are lumbered with, sorry can't be more encouraging, if I find the site I saw will post the link

I have done a bit of checking up on the subject, apparently the ACPO has taken it upon itself along with it's Home Office cronies to limit grants to 1 or 2 shot .32's and there have been several successful appeals allowing .44's maybe there could be some mileage in using European Law to argue a disparity with German law where you are required to have a pistol, my friends father has a 9mm auto he carries in his car always!!
Wouldn't that be one in the eye for the anti's and all the other low lifes, if someone in a position of authority was to do this then what argument could be fielded to refuse such a grant... interesting moot point?

Thanks for all so far. I really can't believe that there are no UK suppliers?
they are a dying breed , normaly only vets seem to hav the need for a .38 and not many want them going for an injection instead or a captive bolt system as is the slaughterman , and not many stalkers are able to get one so their is a limited market by the looks
not that is any help to you
give me a day or two and pm me , i shall make a few calls not sure what help i will be ,
soon find out though

A long shot but you could try Ben at the Gun and Tackle Shop up here on Skye. I know he does some weird and wonderful stuff and I've seen a rack of pistols in his strong room. I'm told he does the armoury for some film and TV.

pistols for humane despatch

i would try NORMAN CLARKE in rugby he deals in these there is a man in Leicester DICK MASON who does pistols for the hunts mostly 32 s smoothbore some with mussel brakes on the end so you can nearly put the pistol on the beast head to shoot it not blowing the gun up . Some slaughterhouses have 32 s for humane killers usually used for horses or a 32 bell gun like a small bike pump bullets inserted in chamber a small pin comes out the end when you donk the animal on the head it fires only about 8 inches long and about an inch across quite small really but effective . The only problem with free bullet as its called you need a good back stop ie soft ground under the animal as it will exit i have picked up hundreds in a horse slaughter house they go straight through big shire horses heads the killing pen is usually in a separate room with a big steel door separating it from the rest of the buildlng .

Legal is right. we need someone to apply for a pistol so that it can be taken through the European courts. Any one up for it?

Legalbeagle,
Would you represent them?

I would like a pistol, but i doubt i would use it for humane dispatch, i use a 12bore for that. I would like to shoot tin cans and targets with it.

I did ask a mate who has a "humane killer" he said have a look in the gunmart there are a couple of guys who stock them, some are 2 shot some are 3 apparently any section 5 dealer will supply one they just drill or block the extra chambers, bloody ridiculous if you ask me

Bit out of my league swamps, you need a top flight barrister, preferably a shooter and European specialist who has no inclinations towards a an appointment to the judiciary and also would be up for a dogfight with the powers that be.. and cheap or free ..long shot..lol but you never know

I did have a further ponder somewhere in the back of my mind I recall reading there was a little bit of legislation that allows member states to defer from judgements in certain areas of the individual member states internal legislation and firearms law is one of them I think the Sportsmans Association or another similar body was thinking about having a go at the government through it, (sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) it's a bit iffy but its been argued it could be done, and I think the Human Rights aspect was done to death by moot also without much of a real challenge but there may be some mileage in this angle ..who knows

I was offered a pistol on my ticket by Kent police some years back. I took up their offer and they issued authority to use a 2 shot 32calibre. Try as I might to get a 32calibre I could not find a suitable weapon. So I asked for it to be changed to a 357calibre with the allowance to also buy 38 special ammo as well which will fit a 357calibre. I was granted this no problem, and purchased a Colt Lawman revolver from John Bradshaws of Oundle in Northamptonshire. I admit I had to have it blocked for 2 shots, but the work that they had carried out was first class.

Although I have not had a great deal of cause to use the weapon, it does come in handy on the odd occassion, and as far as I am concerned the handgun law was a rushed through just for political reasons.

Lets face it, there are more illegal handguns in the UK now than there ever has been, and of course armed crime has gone down.

NOT !!!
