Poi charge from low to high magnification when zeroing thermal scope

Zeroing a thermal rifle scope Hi as anyone any thoughts on a change in poi when changing from low x4 magnification to high x12 when zeroing.
And It wasn’t till I fine tuned the zero on the scope in high magnification x12 that it stayed the same poi

Is it a parallax effect , I was told always zero on max mag to avert this problem , this was with a day scope .

Maybe same principle’s with thermal not sue it left me scratching my head till I did the fine tuning in high magnification

Digital scopes don't suffer from parallax because the reticle and the image both lie on the surface of the display

Definitely zero on the highest mag you can because each "click" moves the reticle a much smaller distance than on base magnification
Look at the numbers and generally, at base magnification, one click changes the x or y value by one
At x2 digital magnification, one click will change the numbers by 0.5 and at x4 digital zoom, the numbers the numbers will change by 0.25 etc
