PPU Ammunition

I used it once in an estate rifle - no complaints at all and I know several keepers who use it in preference to anything else - 243 or more often 22-250.

Has anyone tried the Z Grom copper yet?

I have heard several complaints about PPU in 375 H and H, both poor grouping and poor bullet construction but not in smaller calibres

I've used their 7x57 and .375" H&H with good results, the bullets are never going to compare to Trophy bonded or Noser but what are people expecting at that price point? If you are going after dangerous game why would you use low cost ammunition with standard lead core, copper jacket.
Privi's origins are in military ammunition, they make a great range that duplicates a lot of the original military loadings but have expanded that range significantly in the sporting field, some rifles don't group well with it, others do. A friends .222" would shoot dinner plate groups but my 7mm is very satisfactory using it.
For the cost of a box of 20 it's worth a try even in .375" H&H £47 vs £81 for a box of Federal or £95 for Hornady.

I've found both the 90 and 100 gr PPU shoot decent groups out of my 243 T3x although they are slightly tighter to chamber than other makes. They've given me no concerns with regard to their lethality up to Fallow size.

Out of my 223 T3x PPU are disappointingly inaccurate.

Used it in 6.5/55 and .222 no problems. Not as accurate as home loads but still a useable hunting ammo.

I've just bought 100 rounds to set my rifle up and create some decent brass. I have every faith in it. It's not the sort of bullet I'd use on dangerous game but it's cheap and functional for animals that won't try to kill you.

I've used it in many different chamberings over the years and the only questionable thing for me has been accuracy from some rifles. Some love it, some hate it. I've taken a good few deer with it though and it always worked. If the bullet is any worse than a Remington Core-Lokt in .375 I'll be surprised. You get what you pay for to a degree but one doesn't need a Swift A-Frame to shoot plains game or deer, nor a half MOA group.

.22-250 55gr SP and match, .303 174gr fmj, .308 145gr fmj. All accurate, the SP very effective on roe. Brass very consistent and good for reloading.

Used a box on the range to compare with Sako .243 100g gameheads.
Through my Shultz and Larsen.

Grouped as well as the Sako at100m but dropped considerably more at 200m.

Have not used on live quarry, and would probably only do so in circumstances where I know shots will be limited in distance, high seat in the wood for example.

Tried some 90gr in a 243 Sako 85 - wouldn’t chamber. Same rounds tight to chamber in my sauer 100 but tighter groups at 100m than Sako 90gr. Used on fox and roe no problem.

I very rarely use factory ammo so cannot comment on that side of things , however its fine in all my rifles as new reloading brass 260,223,22hornet . I started when it was hard to get brass out of desperation and carried on after for pest shooting and night work . There is of course better brass but the price of Lapua etc for shooting pests and shooting at night ? perfect ! Its way better than Hornady brass if you put them side by side ( hornady brass is imo very over rated

Used PPU .308 out to 600 yards target shooting with excellent results. Great brass for reloading, both .308 and .303. Never had a split case despite reusing .303 cases 10+ times.
