PRIMERS SHORTAGE

A lot of us have had this issue - see my post above. And yet others have had perfect results. I’ve tried a second batch and thus far perfect - I’ve not changed anything.
So - I’ve run the stats on the 2 batches and significant difference.
I suspect there are some bad batches in circulation
Do you have the batch ID information on the duff ones (or the good ones)? I assume its the number to the left of the barcode like [CCnnnn L- nnnn] where n is a number - I have some CC some CB

Just out of interest - when I did my NRA reloading course at Bisley we deliberately tried CCi BR, Federal Match, Magtech std in otherwise identical loads and (notwithstanding none failed to ignite) all were compatible in terms of velocity deviation across the batch so I am interested to hear the issues with Magtech because I dont care if I use CCi or Magtech. Obviously if unlimited availability then I'd probably buy CCi. I was more interested to know if the stated load used a CCi primer could I safely sub it for something else and would it affect the performance?

I also watched an interesting video with Eric Cortina about primer seating depth. I take that with a pinch of salt given the guy he was talking to was selling tools to check pocket size and clean pockets but the key takeaway is that the relationship between the primer height and primer pocket depth is as important, possibly more important as the relationship between firing pin and primer flushness (is that a word?) i.e. if the anvil is not in good contact with the primer pocket base then it can misfire/no fire. Theory sounds reasonable leads me to believe that its worth knowing the brass primer pocket depth and making sure it is in deep enough and not too deep. But moreover to make sure if you are cleaning/reaming/removing a primer crimp you dont over do it (no suggestion that's why the magtechs didn't fire).

Just catching up - I was going to say can i buy some !
nobody seemed interested in having any so I didn't bother to buy them, initially I was told that they were CCI but actually they were Magtech, I dont know anything about either make but they were a steal, he only wanted 70 quid, I think they are sold now as he had someone else lined up if I didnt want them
