Don't be surprised or confused.

Pulsar accurately show netD values for their units.

17 micron units use far larger pixels than 12 micron units so naturally they are more sensitive and gather more IR radiation than them.

This is the reason they state there 17 micron 640 and 384 sensors are now at 25mk GENUINE netD , there 12 micron units now range from 40mk to 30mk netD as they have smaller pixels that gather less IR. Unlike nightvision were smaller pixels can be bombed with laser IR from VCSELS, thermal is what it is, you cannot cheat it.

If you look at a host of other quoted netD on some other manufacturer thermals, a lot of it is bollocks, 12 micron cannot get down to some of the quoted levels, software is used and images turn into clouds and lack detail at distance...with cartoon like appearance on some...Also some slow down the refresh rate to try and regain some sensitivity, this introduces lag, evident when panning fast or when an animal moves fast across the screen, try comparing in a moving vehicle at slow speed....some products quoted as 50hz will be light years apart when compared.

So you can beat up pulsar for giving you 100% genuine figures or you can say Boooooo, why's it higher..... that's because there honest....

I've used nearly all the thermals out there. I own a Merger XL myself , a wide field of view and natural crisp long range image with excellent detail. IMO there is nothing better available currently. Also what others do not take into account. The displays are larger on the Pulsar Telos/Merger models and theres zero lag when driving in a vehicle. also when turned on they are instant boot up, with all functions accessible, others sort of cheat this and boot up to say there on, but all the functions are locked out for a good while...

It's a HD sensor , it has a 7hr battery life on the XL model, much more durable build, better larger eye display , zero latency, etc

i"m not knocking the Condor because, I like them, they're great value for money and good performance, but this is a different league in all aspects.

The HD sensor is what adds additional cost to the product. Yes the Telos is expensive in general, but it's the price you pay for the overall product and what it has to offer.

Many people will pay for a Telos XL50 LRF , regardless of price because its the best made, best performing monocular on the current market ...

Price per pound........ the problem is , it's not comparing like for like, that's because it's a higher grade product and specification, hence it's double the price.
