Pulsar thermals

If it was a new car under warranty - and i had used the spare wheel - i would not expect the manufacturer to remove the spare ?
When i have had a new phone under warranty or appliance i have never had the instructions or in the case of a washer the box opened and the pipework removed
Surely if its new the warranty period should start again ?
You will find that most company do not extend the warranty period on products, your warranty starts the day you purchased the product not when you received the replacement or fixed item.

Thanks Taff - i get it if they fix them - but just thought it unreasonable on a new one

Pulsar's early digital rifle sights were notoriously unreliable. I'd imagine if they reset the warranty every time they issued a new unit to replace a faulty one, it would have been the death of them

I had a new unit issued to me under these circumstances, so I sold it immediately because I had no faith in the new unit holding zero. It also failed within a few weeks, and the warranty was only valid to the original purchaser.. it ended up as a right old mess

No manufacturer or distributor. provides a new warranty on anything repaired or replaced within the warranty period. It would be never ending if they did and equivalent of a lifetime warranty..

I have both Pulsar and Hik Micro products. The Pulsar strikes me as slightly more robust (but not by much). My Pulsar has been in for repair since May last year! The latest turnaround estimate is late Jan. I’m not hugely confident that this will be effective. Thomas Jack (UK importer) are lovely people to deal with, but eight months and counting for a basic repair? Product support is now certainly a factor I would consider if buying again. I really think manufacturers can lose their reputations very quickly when slightly older products that are still working but require a bit of support (usually parts) are no longer properly supported. I’ve had similar problems with Audi and wouldn’t have another one on the back of my experience.

How reliable is the pulsar compared to hikmicro? Just debating on changing brands as I’m having some really bad luck with hik unfortunately.
I went the other way. Had issues with helion and helion 2 pro spotters. Took an age to get fixed, which has since been improved apparantly. HIK Condor 2.0 replaced the spotter and been great. Heard of few HIK issues and super quick UK turnaround if needed

Hello, I had a repair done but only in the warranty period, you do not get a new one , it just carries on till end of warranty, Well mine did

The warranty does not warranty the warranty.
It does not give you free extra stuff.
It gets your device working again through repair or replacement.
Simple as that.

You need to chase them up ,I can get a pulsar back to the factory ( if they cannot fix it in NZ) in six weeks on average. Some of the very old models are no longer supported (8 yrs+) mainly due to systems moving on so fast, and prices reducing in real terms.

I’m on my third pulsar spotter, mine is switched on 8-20 hours a day pretty much every day for 5 months over the winter and then used extensively over the summer guiding clients. Iv never had one break. Iv had a couple of friends have to send them back but on the whole they have been very reliable. The only thing to note is that warranty work is definitely slower than with hik.
I DROPPED MY PULSAR and damaged the lens Thomas Jacks fixed it for free in a week free of charge

In November I sent 3 of pairs of my Meindl woodwalker pro GTX boots back to Meindl because the mid soles were crumbling in places and they were inside their 2 year warranty period. They sent me 3 brand new pairs back a couple of weeks later with documentation stating that they are all covered with a new 2 year warranty .
Kindest regards, Olaf

Lucky you
Well, I didn’t really consider myself particularly lucky. I’ve been using Meindl for my work boots for the past 15 years or so because their products and customer service are excellent. I’ve got another pair of those Meindl woodwalker pro gtx boots that are about 6 years old, they have also been sent back to Meindl a year ago - outside of warranty- to have a complete overhaul for a fixed maximum price set by Meindl (€120 from memory I think) and they were also returned within a month with new gtx lining- new rubber rand , mid sole, and vibram sole also with a new fresh 2 year warranty on the repairs done to that pair of boots .
So yes, In the case of these Meindl work boots , if their repairs or replacements are not up to scratch then the warranty is renewed with the faulty product and in theory the warranty will last forever , if they are forever providing a crap product that doesn’t outlast it’s warranty. That’s the idea behind a warranty you see- it’s there to give customers the confidence to invest in a product and service . A decent company with good products doesn’t care about giving that warranty because they know that in the majority of cases their products are so good that the Warrenty will never be an issue for them to honour.
So no, I’m not lucky to have been sent new boots, I was unlucky to need to send them back. But, I made my life easier when I started to use that make of work boots because I bought into a product that was quality and had a decent company and dealer network behind them.
If the products and company/ suppliers/dealers of a product have to hide behind warranty clauses and exclusions then I’d argue that the product and support behind that product is sh1t and not worth investing in, any supplier unscrupulous enough to sell junk and hide behind such clauses is also not worth giving your hard earned money to either.
Kindest regards, Olaf

I agree with all you say, but facts are facts, your boots for instance if the complete rebuild is only 120 euro, which takes more work than making a new pair, and the cost of a new pair is say double the repair cost, economics says once in a while you can afford to offer the deal you received, in free advertising alone it pays, Leupold has the same principle, the fact is after a number of years most people will not use the warranty, and think they have had fair wear and tear.
Having dealt with a lot of companies regarding warranty, some will even ask for proof of purchase, which is why they ask you to register the product with your personal information, this information is as you will know then sold onwards, offsetting the cost of any warranty work required. Happy you got your boots sorted.
