Quad sticks

Get them to take pictures or videos of you too, you can see your errors more easily that way. I always do that for the lads when we do rifle days.

Horses for courses @Fly_shoot_stalk I'd say. There are a couple of places that the trigger stick tripods are still the best for (slopes where you can sit and make the legs fit the terrain for instance). Took me ages to get the hang of quads as I'm not tall, in the old days nothing was adjustable (especially the wooden and B&Q versions:p) and I was trying to muscle the rifle up onto the top of the sticks. It just felt so awkward. Blaser was my revelation - gave me confidence as they were lightweight, not too cold on the hands and easily adjustable - alongside working out how to get the rifle up so you keep muzzle awareness and use the sticks rather than shoulder power to lift the weight of the rifle. However, I've gone to Viperflex now, as I'm finding the extra stiffness of the legs is just that much better.

As said in a post above, it's about the style of use and lots of practice. Hilarious seeing people putting themselves in stress positions and then expecting a stable shot. Standing upright with relaxed knees and your ribs against the leg means you're chilled, can stay there forever without fatigue, fulfil the marksmanship principles, don't get the quad shakes of a shitting dog and with practice, can be as accurate (and a lot more comfortable) than from prone to about 100m and confident to 200m or so for the "oh ****" moments. Moving them is again about practice. The joy is, this type of practice doesn't even need the conversion of bullets to brass so it's cheap, and builds upper body / specific movement strength by practicing mounting the rifle (yes, I'm a physio and S+C coach - this stuff is important!).

@Sol can highly recommend viperflex, and the aftercare / customer service is fantastic.

As an aside, there's a bit of a trend for a "wild west" meets cheerleader way of getting the rifle off the shoulder to mount on quad sticks at the moment, which seems to be all over YouTube / Social media. My ex-military head winces seeing it, as the muzzle passes through everything and everyone behind and above the shooter whilst the trigger is out of control. Hey ho as long as it looks cool for the insta eh?

I started with primo tripod but moved to quad for a while now. I made it (just like others) from garden poles with 3d printed heads. Over time redesigned the head with gears so now they are not floppy. I still use them and made for myself friends eventhough I have manufactured ones.
