If the land has been passed for the type of rifles you have then you can visit I understand, if it is already named ground for the same calibre etc.

Hi SD
Ground is cleared for 22 rimmy, 204, 222 and 308. I manage the rabbits, foxes and fallow on the ground, i’m not sure if that covers any other calibres, I had it cleared but only put on what I would use, on reflection should have put WMR, hornet, 243 6.5 as well I guess But I will ask my FEO and get clarification or changed

I'd of thought on ground will a 22 on it will be clear for any probationary licence for air and any other common rimfire. Especially with the full bore clearance.
A bit more experience is always good...

Yep Sd I will ask
I have a place in Surrey, the Met cleared the ground for .22 rimmy and non fac air rifle, I made a mistake of giving a guy permission to shoot on it for a 22 rimmy and non fac air rifle
Next minute crap phone call from the met asking why have I put in for a 223 and 308 on the ground, when it’s only been cleared for 22 rimfire or air rifle, seeing as I didn’t know anything about it was a bit of a shock to find out the guy I helped out with a bit of rabbit shooting decided to put in for the CF calibres on the ground even though he had a copy of the met survey and the subsequent clearance, it didn’t go to well for him as far as the variation application and rescinded permission

Now I don’t share anything and open certificate required, I have had a couple of people take the **** over the Past 3-4 years, my missus thinks I’m soft in the head trying to help people out or to get a foot on the ladder for shooting particularly after one guy who I took out a lot for deer stalking, foxing shooting etc, and he turned out to be a right little turd bag, which resulted in I take nobody deer stalking anymore

I’m at the point now where it doesn’t bother me to help anyone anymore and just keep myself to myself, I learn as I go 🤣

What is wrong with people ? You show generosity and a helping hand and they go and do the dirty unbelievable and screw it up for others . Time and time again I read or hear of similar situations and it still surprises me, hope you don’t have any repeats of that situation .

Fair enough mate. I stopped helping out others years ago for similar reasons.
Some folk I believe just see it as a passing amusement thing. Certainly not a lifestyle so they are thinking short term.
We though love the outdoors, observing wildlife and pitting our wits against it on some of it.

I'm on holiday and chomping on the bit so to speak but I was still up at 5am for a quick look out. Found a badger still out, it never knew I was there....

That's a shame but understandable , think your wife might have a point . I shot one permission for over 15 years and two lots of guys shooting it without permission over the years , plus requests behind my back to the land owner who was a friend . Friend sold the farm to move lost it after 15 years . But these are some of the reasons i do not want a permission of my own , i want to help out when needed , and have some good company i Dispise two faced people trying to steal when they have been helped.

Mate it happens in life i have had people steal off me at work after i have given them a sub on the wages from my own pocket , so not shocked anymore

Think we have all had the pee taken out of us at some time.
worked for a so called mate coach driving for many years doing odd days here and there for a few year always told me money in the draw.
He sold the firm and cleared off did i F get any money.
But I still have to trust other's as not all bad apples.

Unfortunately it is all too common, I’m fortunate enough to have two modest perms an 11 acre Wood and a small 4 acre paddock which Im very grateful for as is my young dog . Always keen to get involved with other folks lending a helping hand rather than looking for new ground as it’s more about all that goes with managing ground than just the shooting which I learned when training up as a GK’er .
