sounds like your on them pretty tight, for long term, use bait boxes with snap traps installed and just change non toxic bait regularly, caramel spray works well on the traps
Rats like places they know and hidey holes, they will probably avoid new installed monitors for a while as they don’t like change or new things
using traps it’s a quick look to check for tails and there are on guard 247 and no secondary poisoning problems

Thats no problem, I've got the Lantra ticket and passed Selontra's course, just wondered if it worked. Haven't found out about the toxicity levels to dogs yet either.

not used selontra but the bayer version is good. expensive but the rats like it.
i was taught the old way of rat control, poison poison poison, its really not needed most of the time. break back traps in boxes with either an attractant paste or whatever you have.
we had some turn up to the bird feeder, 6 traps in boxes with a good sprinkle of chicken feed. all dead within a week. ive got pretty much every type of poison but i wouldnt use it over traps in a garden

I appear to get better uptake with Harmonix which is the same product but in a pasta formulation rather than a block. Also the label is less restrictive. Neither product likes the damp. Once they start eating it it's noticeably faster than SGARs

I'd would be concerned about secondary poisoning here lads if baiting externally, especially with Brodifacoum. As effective would be 6 or 8 Fenns in the appropriate sized boxes along runs and bedded in sawdust or ash. Coupled with a baited area of slop and shooting should soon get on top of the problem. As mentioned remove alternative food/water sources at the same time

Shot a few now, they come out in daylight to the open space under the bird feeders. Traps and boxes inbound, and the bait boxes will be built into runs.
Getting to be part of the morning routine, sneaking outside with the 22 while the kettle boils !

I use a mix of traps and poison. I have livestock which attracts them obviously so I use bait in my feed room in one point only which is totally blocked off for a dog getting in too. Traps about at odd bits which are there all the time baited with chocolate spread. They seem to be unable to resist it but I like chocolate too mind. I don’t use blocks as a rat took one out and one of my collies scoffed it up, thankfully I saw her do it so off to the vet immediately to get the the good old drug, followed up by other treatments. £800 quid! But I love my mutts so hey ho. Worst bit was telling other half her little princess was at vets cos of the poison. I still get reminded 18 years later…very careful with poison now. I sent a picture of a rat in a trap to the makers of the chocolate spread and suggested they market it for using as rat trapping bait but I never got a reply. It does work very well though. I can’t use my .22. Too much stone/concrete about. Getting ready for them moving in soon, it’s getting colder lads.
