It tends to be mice that do this, are they hiding food from others or storing it for another time? No one really knows, squirrels also have this behaviour, rats rarely so. R

Had a load of traps out nothing caught anything. Think Iv identified where they might be coming in from my neighbours so bit the bullet got a bloke coming end of next week.

To add insult to injury just got my car back and had a new wiring loom from mice damage. Pre my ownership but still Iv declared all out war on rodents got air rifle, torch and thermal by the window, bait stations and plethora of snap traps about. Giving it more focus than I do deerstaling

Classic mistake putting bait down inside the house, all that does is encourage vermin in from outside. Get yourself a bait box and use it outdoors, if you use bait blocks and fix them inside the box this will discourage the rats or mice from bringing them indoors to store them.

Its field mice. Only one poison is approved for field mice. If this is happening put a trap down to remove the field mice.

For most scenarios i would argue against external poison, traps in boxes work really well and dont lead to secondary poisoning

Ist off check your external proofing
2nd inspect outside drains sewers inspection pit and the pipes exiting from your residence outlets where you can , place a piece of non toxic bait on a piece of wire so it stays and unchewable , run a string lead up to the access point and tie it off with brick in as many places / entry points check every two days

If the bait goes - measure all the diameters of the pipework going to your residence, you can buy stainless steel one way rat valves that lock in
in to place using a long key and expand to the pipe size from between 3-6 “ average is ( 4-6) installed so they allow everything out from your property but nothing to get in

If rats inside - if you can rat traps fixed on a board again in a piece of string so you can extract easily when caught you don't need many just a pop hole under the floor 2-3 traps - slow but they work and you get what you catch, you don't want a rat hurtling around under the floorboards, as it will die in the best place to leave you smell and flies which a wee bit moverpowering

ultrasonic repellers work in buildings for rats ,at least they stay outside,the feed mill i worked for yrs ago used them,any rats that found their way in to the store ended up staggering about like zombies.we also used them in our pony stable feed store.

Here’s a pic of one they come in pairs will take Rats constantly but can take mice if they provide a sporting spurt you can’t get this model at killgerm though

Can anyone recommend me some rat poison for inside my house?

Got traps outside which periodically catch the rats but for some reason I can’t seem to get shot of the ones inside the cavity walls and loft.

Plan is to lift the floorboards and also put in the loft so no danger to the dogs. Had some “professionals “ put poison down this time last year and it worked but times come again.

Its formulated to attract rats but it does indeed help to put other foods beyond their reach

the rat still needs access, if your house is well maintained no amountnof poison will let rats in, if you have rats in the house external bait wont atract them through a wall

Unless the rats have access to water within your house they must, and will, access outside
