Re-crowning

Can anybody recommend a good gunsmith who will re-crown my rifle as there’s a little pitting on it. Don’t want any donkey doing it, must be fully competent and highly recommended. I’m down in South Wales so somebody near would be good too. Cheers

When you say a "little pitting" is this just inside the barrel (at the crown) or external to it but 'impacting' bullet release and therefore repeatable accuracy? If the latter, and before you spend the equivalent of 3 tubs of Varget, may I suggest the pencil & Solvoautosol trick for tidying up such compromised crowns for the price of a trip to Halfords.

If after such treatment the rifle's grouping returns to a known standard, by all means splash some cash if you see advantage in a new crown profile or simply enjoy the financial saving.

If of course you think I'm talking utter b........ and with zero awareness of the barrel's true condition by all means ignore this post. I won't be disappointed.

Done a couple of mine with good results, mind you they are not expensive guns just well used. Have a go what could possibly go wrong?
