Reach out and touch me T3

So, diversity is key here

This is not necessarily a deer management rifle, but I’m sure there will be some interest as it’s a little “outside the norm”

I was approached by a friend who has an interest in long range shooting to build a PRC

He kindly provided me with a Tikka T3 action that had some alterations conducted already (fluting) and commenced the work

The bolt required to be opened from .473” diameter to .535” to accommodate the PRC case head

Whilst doing so the ejector was changed as it was sticking despite being cleaned and the extractor was swapped

The barrel was one I had in stock - a Proof Research Competition 8twist (Whixh I’d describe as “stout”) was selected for the build and I re profiled the shank end taking it down from 1.200” to 1.150” to suit the T3 action

The barrel was then fitted to the action and chambered in 6.5 -PRC

Finished at 26” the muzzle was created, crowned and threaded for moderator with a protective cap (I’d rather not use the term invisible as they rarely are if one looks close enough)

Whilst the barrelled action was away at Proof, Steve provided me with a MDT Oryx chassis and a couple of Magnum AICS design magazines (5 and 10 round)

The barrelled action was, once recieved back from Proof testing taken to Liquid Steel Design at Preston for coating in FDE Ceracoat

The trigger safety and plastic bolt shroud were given a “refinish” using EC Weapons paint

The barrelled action was mated to the chassis with decent quality stainless torx head M6 bolts that were cut to length and finished neatly

Well done. Kind of you to donate a little of your nail varnish onto the safety dot. Great colour choice.
Good that you took the shank down to match the action, looks horrible otherwise.

🥰
The heather coloured safety blob is a “thing” I do - Bowland Custom web page has heather in bloom on the home page.

Yes the barrel shank actually ended up of approviamately 10” of machining to take down to Tikka diameter

Took a little time and care but blended nicely I think

Congratulations - that's a magnificent piece of work.

Shot it in this morning, with factory, absolute pea souper up on the moor.
Bore sighted & first round shot & cleaned.
Repeat x 3 after corrections.
Moved target back out to a hundred from initial 50 yards.
Shoot & clean 5 / 5 / 5 / 5.
Final patching out completed in two patches for showing clean, lovely smooth passage of rod & jag through bore.
Nasty wet breeze full of dewpoint.

Seems to shoot adequately Steve with little fouling

Can only improve once broken in 👍🏻
Twenty rounds in those patches, & a bit shaky with that stiff damp breeze (Read liquid fog).
A massive improvement by that Sun-Way photo ball head change out on the tripod.
