Rear sight removal

I have a rubber 77 mark 11 in 30.06. as well as the telescopic sight mounts it has iron sights fitted. I need to remove the rear sight which sits on the same basic position as an SMLE. This so I can fit the pulsar f455. There is a countersunk screw which I have removed but the sight will not move cannot see any means that it is secured. The barrel is stainless steel.
Anyone any ideas, don't want to damage it.

I had exactly the same problem on my CZ550 I took the slide and leaf off the sight removed the 2 base screws but the base is firmly stuck to the barrel. Looking at were the front sight had been removed to screw cut for a mod there is evidence of some form of glue how the gunsmith removed the sight I have no idea but I could not move the rear sight as it happens with the sight stripped the F455 fits.

If the groove is dovetailed you are trying to drift it out in the correct direction aren't you? Many dovetail slots for sights are tapered slightly and generally they are drifted in from the right hand side to the left and drifted out from left to right.
