Rebarrel completed

Hi all,
I recently posted a thread on here explaining that my beloved sako 75 in 22-250 was finally shot-out and required a new barrel. After 20 years of faultless service I couldn't bring myself to part with it.
Firstly I had to decide who I wanted to do the work. I knew most of the names of the big boys in the trade, anyone who shoots rifles does don't they? Even if you've never used any of them you've all read about their very high standards of work, as I have, and quite rightly they've all built up a fine reputation for excellent workmanship. In short, there's a selection to choose from.
I'd seen a company on here called B E Precision and noticed straight away they were on the outskirts of Bristol which is only just over an hour from where I live in South Wales. Although I'd never heard of them before, I thought there could be no harm in a quick phone call could there?
A visit was arranged and after a good discussion with Gary I decided I was more than happy with him to do the work for me. This situation worked out very conveniently for me as there was no need for rfd involvement or any need to take time off work.
A phoenix 1 in 8 twist was selected which Gary had on the shelf and it was agreed that the reamer would be ordered the next day and work would start asap.
Gary kept me up to date (with photos) and the whole job took approx 8 weeks to complete. I hasten to add at least 4 weeks of that was spent sat in the proof house.
In total it has cost me less than £1000. For that I got all the work you would associate with a top quality re-barrel (invisible thread protector etc) but also Gary reworked and resealed my laminate stock as the outer profile of the new barrel was a mil or 2 wider than the original and also carried out a minor repair to the safety catch for me.
My rifle now shoots as good as it ever did, possibly better if I don't let it down!
Am I glad I went down the rebarrelling route? You'd better believe I am!
So, yes this is a big shout out also to Gary at B E Precision. Everyone quite rightly 'bigs up' the major names in the trade but they all began as smaller companies. Credit where it's due.

Most, if not all, rifle smiths work to the same tolerances so the prices should be around the same depending on the barrel used but some, and quite a few, charge extra just for their name as you have found out. :-)

Just back from Dasherman with my rebarreled .204.
Now has a 22" Bartelin 1:10. I need to measure some COLS and reload some ammo for a bed in. Hopefully it will like 39/40s and possibly 50 grn Bergers.

I'm not sure how to post them from WhatsApp sorry. I'm hoping Gary may see this and feel free to post them.

@leej
Lee, if you click on the photos in WhatsApp, it will ask you if you want to save them to your photos, click to save, then you should be able to attach them to a post by the “Attach files”

If you have no joy, drop me a message & I’ll give you my number, you can then send them to me & I can post them for you.

I'm slightly concerned my old phone won't do the work justice Screenshot_20250527_200800_Gallery.webp

What did that cost ?

In my case I wanted a tighter twist so rebarrel was only way. The original barrel was shot out.
