Rebarrel done, 7mm rem mag by Jager SA

Had my husqvarna 7mm rem mag rebarrelled in the end - by James of Jager SA.

Have to say it’s a cracking job, and was ready for when I was almost passing his part of the world to collect. Bang on time, great value with a new pendragon stainless barrel and all metal very nicely cerakoted. James suggested a slightly heavier profile and it’s turned out spot on for a rem mag. He kindly made me invisible thread protectors for other rifles foc as well.

Had it in time for my hind (and ropey stag) culling trip. Fired a few of my left over home loads into target with a powerful cross wind, making about an inch at first try. I need to do some proper work on a target to do it justice, but it just works for now!

Got a few reds in tough conditions (when isn’t it), it’s becoming much loved as a rifle.

James did a .222 with a Bergara barrel for me which several other 'Super Dooper' smiths said was cheaper than them because the Bergara barrels were rubbish, he has proved them wrong and I could not be more pleased with it.

He has breathed life back into a rifle I liked for less than the cost of a new mid range rifle and it will last another fifty years I have no doubt. And on an action and trigger that are really nice to use.

Not sure why some smiths stick their noses up at Bergara. They’re good actions. Early barrels were known for some rusting issues, but actions themselves are decent

Just recalled, randomly 😂 if you ever want to sell that classic Lee loader you have in 6.5 swede, please let me be first port of call

I can sell it, it costs £400 and comes with a free husqvarna 1900 6.5x55 (which is actually an excellent and very accurate rifle)!! Or, it’s getting the NV on it and will then get used more!

Joking aside waiting to see what’s happening with the various Mauser actions I’ve been looking at. If I do move on the swede I’ll let you know about the LL.

Can’t believe how long I’ve had it and only just realised it’s a Swedish swede 🤣

He's done a few rifles for me now. Always does nice work at a fair price and I get on well with him as a person too. His only failing is he's not pretentious, he under sells his ability when his work easily matches those charging a lot more.

He does a great job at decent money and he’s a very knowledgeable and approachable guy. It’s nice to see more people that see through the BS about James at Jager. He’s done my Ruger RPR 6.5 Creedmoor and my 308 Remington 700 both are super accurate. I have now enquired about a 22 Creedmoor.

I totally agree with you on this from my conversations with him. The stuff I’ve read about him is not the person I have met and I know people. There’s no BS with the guy.

i first met him a few years ago when he helped me get a prefit at 25% of the cost the importer had quoted ceracoted and screw cut in a couple of weeks.
he re barreled my tiktac making it even more accurate, built me a 223 which i’m selling un shot.

a couple of times he talked me out of buying a gucci action, and has just sent my 6xc to proof.

the latest build is something a bit different - he took an L579 action and gave it a savage barrel nut so it can pack much smaller for the airport and snowmobile. not got it yet i’ll post a review in a few weeks

He's done three for me so far, two with Pendragon barrels, one with a Shilen, if or when I need another doing I'll go to him. Work is good, rifles are accurate, and as already mentioned, he's a nice guy to talk to
