A friend a keen cook, has kitchen knives are always quite dull. What would be a good sharpener to get her. I was thinking of the Warthog V-Sharp Classic, it looks a handy device.
Many thanks

The Warthog V-Sharp Classic is indeed a handy device. I've used different types of stones and a Lanky for years with all sorts of knives, chisels, plane blades etc but bought a Warthog V-Sharp Classic a while ago so that my wife and daughters can sort the kitchen knives out themselves. They all use it no problem and I usually pick up a sharp knife when I'm in the kitchen now.

You need to know what angle your knife edge needs to be when made, some sharpeners only have a few angles or in most cases one angle as in those pocket jobs. The Warthog has two machines catering for different angles . It a great sharpener.

I bought the Warthog for my sister and brother in law for Christmas just gone. I was fed up with constantly hand sharpening their knives for them. Tried to teach them how to do it but like most people, they just cannot be bothered to begin to understand, let alone put in any sort of time and effort that would result in tools that were fit for purpose.

Anyhoo, that little Warthog sharpener is properly good. My nephew (11yrs old) basically does it for them and he generally has the dexterity of drunk giraffe.

Only a complete moron could fail to get a sharp knife with a warthog. Dead easy to use, no power needed and if you ever do burn through the diamond stone, you can buy spares.

I'll echo this. I've tried the lansky and other methods but the simplicity of the warthog works for me. I can now get my knives sharp nice and quickly.

I would recommend this...

It’s not cheap but it offers a bullet proof solution for kitchen knives. It’s easy to use. Gives you the option of a 20 or 15 degree cutting edge. And takes seconds to restore an edge. I use a whetstone on my staking knifes but this on the kitchen knives and it’s by far the best solution I have come across.
