Recommended bino's??

Just looking through the posts if your budget is say £2k cheaper rifle most shoot well (better than the man behind them)get a good pair of binos and scope.ten to one you will after a year or so decide on a diffo calibre you will still have good binos and scope.

They have a pair of Zeiss up for £399. Make them an offer and theres a decent set of bins that will outlast you on there.

You will spend more time looking through your bins than anything else so buy the best. Got to be Swarv's, Zeiss or Leica, and if you then want to upgrade you will get your money back, which you will not if you buy anything else.

I purchased a nearly new Howa .243, with Wildcat moddy and 7x50 meopta for £750 (from a dealer) and was hardly used so in that case it would leave £1,250 for your bins.

I think the concencus is that Swarvs are the best, with Zeiss/Leica a v close joint 2nd.

It is a lot of cash but you will not regret it. Also say you give up stalking there is a very ready and bouyant market for top end bins. Get yourself down to the Sportsman late in the day and look through them outside at dusk and but the ones which you feel most comfortable with.

Its an old problem and never really changes.

I would choose secondhand good quality/ name over new nearly everytime. What you can afford is obviously critical, but with some of the popular brands/ models you are virtually putting money into a piggy bank rather than spending it. Steiner/ Burris/ Minox etc all good. But the gap between new and second hand value will be great.

Spend £700 or so on zeiss/ swarovski etc and in a few years they'll still command that money. Macleods of Tain have a good selection of secondhand optics turning over and from experience you can buy from them in confidence. I am sure there are others that come equally recommended.

Same applies to scopes, rifles etc.

Appreciate another thing to think about rather than a complete easy answer.

I think I'm definately gonna go down the second hand gun route, and I'm gonna try and recalculate a bigger budget for the bino's. I reckon top-end second hand is definately the way to go after reading your comments. If I can afford Swaro's I'll get them. Second-hand for the price drop, but very very good condition second hand so that they will command a similar price if I sold them on. I think that is the most ideal way to go.
