Afternoon; after some tips on staining a set of red deer antlers :
Shot my first hill stag last summer but it was in velvet so the antlers are white ; as its sentimental I would like to mount it and wondered what people use in the same situation?
Thanks

Comes in granules so dilute them and see the effect, you can always make stronger

Once you've stained it you can replicate the wear on the tines by rattling the antler through some foliage, I've heard? I've never actually tried this myself though

I personally do them 'in' velvet by freeze drying in a normal freezer, freeze, thaw, freeze thaw,,,10 times or so, then the velvet just dries out and stays forever without going bad.

However, clearly, if velvet is already removed that's not an option. apply sparingly at first and remember to try and replicate the colour depth and areas of a natural fraying beast for the best look.
