Red dot or green ?

Right, main question.

Red dots. I’ve had 3

Geco - same brand as ammo. Not bad for the money but I’ve only used as a range toy so unsure of durability.

Burris Fastfire III - have 2 of these. Good value proposition. Have used on 9.3x62 and 12b. Stood up well. Dot pretty good in terms of sharpness and auto brightness setting not bad (though could do with more than 3 brightness levels)

Leica Tempus - very good but pricey. Tough optic. I flew with it to Croatia, hunted, fell down a mountainside and flew back to the U.K. checked zero and bob on. Very sharp dot, lots of levels but priciest I have.

Dot size - go smaller rather bigger. A smaller sharper dot is easier to be precise with. If you want a big dot, Jack the brightness and the dot will flare larger.

Whatever you choose, enjoy your shooting.

I'll check the Holosun out ,thanks

Holosun are a great less expensive AIM point. You don’t need expensive glass on a red dot.
The AIM points are American made therefore command a premium.

I’ve shot a few fallow and had great fun with it. I’m struggling with my astigmatism and flaring of the dot. So will probably be selling it. I had to sell my 3 ziess V8’s for the same reason. I have kept hold of the red dot because it’s so enjoyable.

@scotch_egg, shoot with your eye correction in / on it will help the flaring. I have virtually no diopter correction but shouldn't drive without glasses due to astigmatism and it will help.

Question about the HS403B: Can you mount it without the riser?

They come with a high and low mount. I just used the low mount on my Fix.

Apologies mine is the 403R.

Just checked with my contact and glasses. I still get flare and the dot isn’t a dot.

I checked the difference using my phone through the site. It’s a perfect round dot and definitely not what I see. I can shoot sub MOA with it but it’s not pleasant and takes effort.
Fair enough. Does help too if you drop the brightness a bit.
