Right, main question.
Red dots. I’ve had 3
Geco - same brand as ammo. Not bad for the money but I’ve only used as a range toy so unsure of durability.
Burris Fastfire III - have 2 of these. Good value proposition. Have used on 9.3x62 and 12b. Stood up well. Dot pretty good in terms of sharpness and auto brightness setting not bad (though could do with more than 3 brightness levels)
Leica Tempus - very good but pricey. Tough optic. I flew with it to Croatia, hunted, fell down a mountainside and flew back to the U.K. checked zero and bob on. Very sharp dot, lots of levels but priciest I have.
Dot size - go smaller rather bigger. A smaller sharper dot is easier to be precise with. If you want a big dot, Jack the brightness and the dot will flare larger.
Whatever you choose, enjoy your shooting.
