Remington to discontinue 260?

It is said on an American forum I am a member of that Remington is disappointed with sales performance for the 260. Not indicated if that meant no more rifles in that calibre or the end of cartridge production was not said.

I Think your right my gun smith said the same as a couple of lads that frequent the shop have had guns made in that calibre but it should not matter as ammo is easily made. He said that the 6.5 x 284 and other 6.5 calibres would all go down the same road as the 6.5 x 55 will do all that is required and is a market leader for factory rifles and ammo.

Funny that. I have a 260rem on order with a custom builder in England.

He has told me that about half the orders he has for stalking rifles (as opposed to tactical or target style rifles which are mostly 6.5x47 Lapua) are for 260rem at the minute.

If Remington particularly, but rifle builders in general, offered a few decent quality rifles, with factory ammo in a few bullet weights, this round would be a real winner.

As long as there is 243 brass and 6.5mm bullets, I'll be able to keep mine fed.
