Removing stock and cleaning metalwork

Mine has just been out of the stock to have the barrel threaded no corrosion apparently last time it was out of the
Stick was when the action was bedded and the barrel floated that was approximately 25 years ago.

I give it a wipe down when I get home if I remember and it comes out of the stock at the end of the season or just before the start of the next one.
You can collect a surprising amount of crud in there.

Thanks for all the responses people! Think I’ll definitely get some of that renaissance wax stuff and give the hidden stuff a bit of a coating, for peace of mind if nothing else!

Hi all,

Out of interest, how often do people remove their rifle’s stock and clean/oil all of the ‘hidden metal’?

I always give my guns a wipe after shooting, and if it’s been raining I ensure they’re dry before getting the oily rag treatment - but generally only on the metalwork I can get to. I just worry that the concealed bits might be suffering, and interested to hear about how often people go to that extent?!

Many thanks
I tear my completely down after deer season here in Pennsylvania because of the snow or rain so once a year
