Hi all, I am looking at a project to get stuck into next year, which is to build a 6.5 Grendel on an old Remington 700 action I have.
I could go for a CZ527 in 6.5 Grendel or 7.62x39 and make this reasonably easy but hey what the hell its a 1970's Remington action, from back when the accountants hadn't got hold of the company and wrecked it. In short its a proper lump of iron.
No comments about 6.5 Creedmoor either, I know its Gods gift to the shooting community but I very much sit in the atheist camp on that one lol.
As the above will require a change of bolt face size from 308 to 6mm PPC, we used to be able to get Pacific Tool and Gauge replacement bolts for Remington 700 actions shipped. I am talking a fair while ago, granted.
Given that their are restrictions on what PTG are able to ship, my first question is, is there anyone legally bring in PTG items such as bolts etc to the UK at all, or is there an alternative supplier of ready made replacement bolts etc that is available in the UK?
As an alternative to a new bolt, anybody have any suggestions as to which gunsmiths in the UK can sleeve a 308 bolt face to 6mm PPC and install a Sako type extractor, bush the firing pin and we may as well throw in a blue print for good measure at the same time?
I do have someone in mind, if in the event he says no I could use a backup.
