An interesting article and one which might counter some of the "plant a tree everywhere brigade's" rhetoric.

Was reading this earlier on David, thanks to the GWCT bulletin. The problem with this is the same as using brownfield sites for building is the expense. Far easier for our commercial foresters to go into "virgin" areas of land to plant and ultimately to harvest without having to work around previous land use - similar to building project on brown field sites as opposed to nice, friendly green field sites.
As ever money is the driver here and it isn't so attractive for green washing if it costs the investors!
