roe rut

Friday evening saw a doe on her own watched her for 1/2 hour no bucks to be seen.
Saturday morning nice buck on his own out feeding, didn't try the call, was easy enough to stalk in to him. Saturday afternoon dog flushed a young roe kid from cover. Saw 2 obvious rutting rings but nothing else (Dumfries)

I saw 2 mature deer (couldn't sex at extree distance) belt across a stubble field into cover early doors this morning in north yorks. A buck clamour taking the same line about an hour later. For the impression the first 2 was a buck chasing a doe.

Went out last weekend, Friday, sat and Sunday .... Nothing at all very quiet indeed. Went out this Friday and it had started. So it could of started Monday maybe!!!! Who knows.

I cover a large area of east devon and west somerset and the rut peaked here two weeks ago and was very stop/start , steadily slowed down over the past week.

Seen a doe out tonite, she got within 6yds of me,I spooked her and a couple of toots on the buttalo she came back, spent an hour on and off calling and no buck showed, I was in a really good spot too, was adament I would see one, am fairly sure its over here

I went out tonight, saw a roe buck and he wasn't interested in the call or the doe he noticed in the same field, but 2 fallow prickets came to the call, figure that one out!
That isn't the first time the buttalo worked on fallow, sadly they were unsafe tonight so had to let them go, but sods law, where I parked my truck were 3 reds but it was also unsafe and I would have put a hole in my Hilux!
Cheers

Ive shot a few foxes that came into buttalo call, only trouble with the caller when it works the roe usually show on the end of the barrel, last week it worked a treat, I was in good position and drew it right out in the open

Sandy bay was the family holiday destination growing up, mum and dad had a static caravan down there for years, the gave up the van about 4 years ago now, all my kids grew up knowing sandy bay well, do you shoot anywhere near woodbury where nigel mansels golf coarse is dds

No, but I did fish there for carp before the golf course, great fun.
Sandy bay, I used to cycle there from Exeter on my push bike in the 70's looking for holidaymaking chicks!
That was better fun than carp fishing!
Cheers

Shot a very good Silver Medal head with a client on the 6th August, rut appeared to have broken out as he came to the call and we watched a pip squeak buck mount a doe who was fully receptive.

This weekend one cull buck and nothing coming to the call, no action anywhere so I think its done and dusted in my part of West Sussex. 21 Roe Bucks this season and three medal heads, so about on par with last season.

Plenty of Fallow moving at the moment, but not easy to get onto. I have seen some nice bucks in small bachelor herds, so hopefully the rut for the Fallow will be on the money this season, as last year it was late.

Lamping foxes on the shoot last night and deer everywhere saw 10 deer rut deffo just revving up here.
Had a client on first stalk yesterday evening and had a pricket come to the tower, there wasn't much time and I stopped it twice, he had the shakes and no shot was fired.
58 bucks grassed 3 medals, so down this year so far. wont catch up now either plenty of deer but game shooting starts soon.

i would like to take that many a year.i did use to do around 20 bucks but land changing hands and falling out with farmers i havent got the acerage now.most of my ground has neighbour stalkers.will run out one day.
