rucksack for rifle

Get a Diver to show you how, you might laugh but i was shown the method they use to reach the Bottles, its an arm straight out in front, up and over, i am not flexible so struggle with out this, worth a try!
Dont reach over your shoulder unless you are super flexible. Simply reach round the small of your back and grab the rifle by the fore end

Vorn.

The end

Have tried a Vorn, was not impressed.

Their marketing slogan 'The world's fastest rifle backpack' just isn't true.

Not to mention the fact that carrying a rifle near vertical on your back is not a good idea in the first place, better to have it out in front at a slight angle.

Very surprised no one has copied the Kifaru system yet, although this is also a good thing!

Lean right slightly to throw barrel out to right shoulder. Left arm across face to grab barrel as right hand pulls ring. Pull out side and up. Grab hand of rifle with right hand and slide left hand onto foreend. Mount. Fire

I don't use either, but the Kifaru system would be a doddle to make, seems lightweight, probably fairly readily transferable between backpacks, simple and versatile, possibly even for the longbow users, though I haven't seen them either.

The Vorn system looks like a costly sledgehammer to crack a fairly simple nut by comparison, but again, each to their own. Never had the problem, and so not sought out a solution, but I'd see me giving the simple, Kifaru-type solution a go in the first instance, as to me it looks quick and handy to deploy, irrespective of cost or relative lack thereof; there's nothing like trying both systems out to determine what's the preferable option, of course.

that's the theory, but no way can I reach the rifle doing that:(

Why? I would have thought a rifle pointing straight up was the safest position??? (other than straight down!!)

I appreciate that everyone will have put the rifle into a safe condition before they try and holster/carry it, but what if you did have a accidental/negligent discharge?

Straight up and you have probably lost a good deal of your hearing, possibly even the back of your head.

Straight down, hope you were standing on some soft ground and your feet were nowhere near the muzzle.

With the Kifaru system I can check the chamber, safety catch and even detach the magazine if need be. I can also load it while carrying (but alas not while moving).

I use a Vorn Lynx, having previously used a z aim sling. My rifle is on the heavy side with a Bartlein varmit barrel and the Vorn makes it a doddle to carry up a hill or through a thick wood. I really like it.

I’m interested in this after shoulder surgery. I’d be interested in a link to the UKV varminting Eberlestock deal if anyone is a member and could point me the right way? They look perfect for me

I have used a Vorn for over a year and wouldn't be without it now. My stalking is not open range but mainly commercial Forestry so may seem a bit overkill but allows me to carry evera might need and still have room for a flask on longer outings.

I use the Lynx ( middle size version). Dont be fooled by the online video of releasing your rifle over your shoulder, unless you are young and very flexible, but it is simple to grab the rifle round the small of your back.

Which ever way, do a little practice before your first time out

I've used a Vorn Lynx since last Autumn. Fantastic bit of kit. Like HW101 I have a heavy rifle and the Vorn makes carrying it really easy. very stable too. I don't have a problem with the 'over the shoulder' barrel grab technique and I'm not exactly a sylph like form! As other have mentioned though, this model will only accommodate a rifle with irons or a scope.
