rucksack for rifle

looking for advice on a suitable rucksack for carrying my blaser and fox calls etc comfortably long distance.
I don't like trying to carry a separate rucksack and then forcing my rifle onto my shoulder, need a combination type rucksack
Any advice please?

I bought a cheapie as wasnt sure if it was going to be right for me carrying in that fashion.

Rucksack well thought out and made with a rear drop down front pocket to take the butt and then secure with tabs. It sits right on the back, so probably would need to remove the rucksack to release the rifle.

Used the rucksack and its comphy, but must admit, I havent been up to Scotland this year to test the rifle carry functionality out.

Decathlon do one that’s meant to be quite good. I personally find it much easier with an ex army issue camelback hydration bladder and a sling that’s very similar to the z aim.

The bag is about 15 CM wide and I find the rifle fits perfectly alongside it and it’s much quicker to get it out

+1 re the scope limitations mentioned by the Singing Stalker. I have the Vorn Lynx though and am impressed with the quality and comfort in use. It is however no lightweight and the price makes your eyes water! Have it on good authority from local dealers that they sell loads so the limited amount coming up for sale secondhand (and the speed that they sell at when they do) is probably a good recommendation?

Kifaru Gun Bearer!

It's a $15 attachment that works so long as you have a good quality back with a proper waistbelt and harness (these are quite pricey though and most are USA made).

Get the universal one if in doubt and thank me later.

Harkila also do one called the mountain hunter rucksack. I haven’t seen it in the flesh but worth a look as another option.

I have the Vorn after seeing how good it was up on Arran with the guy I was paired up with for the first time and having just returned from my 4th opportunity, I can assure you it’s a good piece of kit. I don’t use the quick release function much as with my long arms and large scope it’s quite a faff but it has enabled me to carry all my hill gear and rifle comfortably whilst using my sticks for stability and having a free hand for thermal/binos. Don’t buy twice, take the pain and get it right first time:thumb:

How much do you want to carry in the rucksack there is the Blaser expedition light where the rifle fits on the back of the rucksack

Get a Diver to show you how, you might laugh but i was shown the method they use to reach the Bottles, its an arm straight out in front, up and over, i am not flexible so struggle with out this, worth a try!
