Sako 85 what scope mounts

Hello good people , anyone got a recomendation for scope mounts for a Sako 85 please.

got optolocks on my 85 too, i did try the burris weaver bases so you then have the choice of any weaver style mount, the were about £40 of the evil bay and give you many more options and if you allready have weaver mounts then could be the cheapest route, i used mine with third eye mounts but just too high so sold them in the end

optilocks and get the correct bases for the tube /scope length got some blue rings in 1" high and extra low are 3.40mm from base to ring bottom

forgot to add I did and have got the weaver mounts to convert dovetail but head and stock are so far apart you need to put a lump of 2x2 on top of stock just to see gone back to the rings made for the rifle

What calibre/action? I have Optilock stainless short action bases sat here doing nothing.

Its a Sako 85 Varmint ss with xs action in .223 I think they may fit, do you have a part number please Tartinjock

I have three 85s. I have optilocs on two and Third Eye one piece mounts on the other.

Optilocs are good - the plastic ring insert prevents any marking. By using the right combination of bases and ring heights you can get the scope mounted as low to the barrel as possible. The only drawback is the screw between the ring and the base. This can work lose, and can't be tightened without removing the scope and mounts from the action. That is'nt difficult, but I use loctite for a bit of insurance.

The Third Eye ones are like normal one piece mounts, but with the Sako dovetail taper machined into the base. They're less versatile if you want to swap between different rifles. However, if you get the right set they are effective and hassle free. I got mine from UK Gunworks - very good firm to deal with.
