Which is why many rabbit/hare dishes utilize some form of additional fat (bacon, prosciutto, salt pork, butter, olive oil, etc.).
It is also interesting that the Wikipedia page mentions the Romans in Spain suffering from rabbit-starvation, since the origins of the name of Spain ("Espana"), is widely believed to be a bastardization of the (IIRC) Phoenician name for that land "Hisperia". Which loosely translated means "The land of rabbits" or "Rabbit Land".
