Sauer 505 creeping up in price??

big bang

One of my favourite past times, while I wait for the FEO to call and arrange the interview for my FAC grant, is refining my post grant shopping list… presumptuous as this might be. As you can imagine, I’ve had a fair amount of time to consider my options.

My dream rifle is the Sauer 505 and I reckoned I was just about able to work one into the budget without the Mrs catching on but they seem to be creeping up in price. They were originally around the £3600 but the prices on guntrader are now more in the £3800 area. Anyone know what’s going on? Are there supply issues? Not seen a used 505 yet. Perhaps guntrader stalking is not the best way to do things… any advice welcome

Was lucky enough to shoot a t/h carbon stocked 505 in .308 on a trade day as a guest recently - wow. Good luck in your search, whatever you get will be a source of joy.

Get a deposit down in one before the price goes higher, call round and look for the best deal.

Well the carbon 505 would be my factory rifle dream when I finally retire (which won’t be anytime soon )

I picked one up and played about with it and didn’t feel anything wrong with the trigger - not sure what setting it was on.

Sauer’s are pretty well known for good triggers I would say.

the 505 I had a chat with Steve Beaty who would be the only person to order one through. Seems the order time was about 9 months so many people end up buying an S&L.
`then there's the wood lottery, there are some stunning examples, I want one, but I'd be a bit fearful of getting what I'm given. best plan is probably to buy one in Germany and go through the pain of shipping. Oddly it would probably cost a bit more but at least you'd see the timber before you got it.

Inflation, struggling economy, crap exchange rate has made the prices of stuff go up. Energy prices to process the steel etc. All factors in.

But id say the price rise is probably in line with absolute everything else...

I rember a tikka t3 being £800 quid new now look at them 😂
