Scone game fair

I think the only notable exception in shops compared to recent years was Edinburgh Rifles?

But aye, would have been nice to see more... And more with stock on the more modest end of the spectrum 😅 Mind looking through one of them (the Welsh one I seem to remember?) and felt like they must have had less than a dozen shotguns available for under £1k.
Wasnt an easy decision to not go this year
But we felt the i creasing cost of the attendance is being matched by growing footfall
Gate numbers are definitely down year on year
We hope to alternate the bigger shows but are taking a break this summer.
Its a huge commitment to take a large stand and bring the entire shop (and then take most of it home again!)

Maybe next year

100% understand that! And to be fair, doesn't really impact me - I can just pop into the shop a hell of a lot easier than going to Scone when I manage to find time 😂

It used to be a fantastic show to attend with No 2 wife who had a stand. But even by 2007 the cost to traders was making it not worth bothering, something in the region of £1500 for a 20 ft space made it non viable.

Many thanks to everyone that supported us over the weekend; had a good blather with many folk & good to see strong attendance making events like these still viable.

Friday was quiet and seemed to lack atmosphere, however Saturday and today were very different :thumb:
I was assisting on a Friends stand as the way we saw it was :

Friday : Land Agents / Businesses (A lot more tweed seen and some big purchases made with us on the company cards)
Saturday : Far more "recreational" deer managers came through our place. Lots of smaller ticket items sold.
Sunday : Family day out for the remainder who were attending.

IT was good to catch up with some old faces, and make some new friends over the weekend. Lots of learning points taken away for development of the stand for future events also which can only be a good thing in my eyes.

Was working there Thursday- Sunday for my friend who is a tailor of tweeds. (& Yes I was in full tweeds). We had an ok fair overall, busy Friday morning, Saturday was very busy and Sunday a little slow at times.

Good to meet with a variety of folks from across the country, all really friendly. good craic.

Some great stalls, J M knives had some nice pieces. Welsh gun shop also some older reasonable priced guns. Toms targets got my monies for a rimfire gong.

I hear others about the price of food, however knowing how much a pitch cost I kind of feel that for the food stalls you would likely have to either sell a tonne of lunches or price accordingly to cover overheads.

wife even came through for the Saturday and really enjoyed herself. We both will be back

Was there on Saturday and hadn't been for a few so was good to get along and have a mooch about the stands @Monarch Country Products, had great deal with a roe sack from the fella and my brother also had a great deal with a set of sticks he ha hidden away! price of food tho was a bit of a joke! £16 for a brisket burger! it was good but not £16 good.
He had a bargain with those sticks for sure!

Went up today, weather was great 20c and sun with a nice breeze. Nice wee show to walk round for a few hours. Hey it’s not a big show but a nice enough size to get round once to have a nose then second time to buy something that catches your eye then some food and set off home. I ment say I get tickets free every year that’s why I go but if I had to pay I would probably go once every 2 years. I’ve thing that does p**s me off about these things are folk with dogs😤 unless you are competing or going in the fun scurry then leave the t***s at home. Bloody leads going all directions and sh**e not being picked up by the lazy h***ing owners,I might chuck the lead rope on the wife’s horses and take them for a tottle round the stalls next year because they are as much pets as folks sausage dogs or frenchies or Great Danes or gid knows what else! And while I’m on the subject why carry a bloody pup in your arms all day ? I mean surely it doesn’t make sense 🤷. Any hoo enjoyed the weather and the drive up and back from Dumfriesshire was nice and quiet apart from a wee delay at dumblane show on the way home.
D, I haven’t been for years due some of the reasons you mention
