Scope problem.

Hi,
I’ve just taken delivery of a used scope from an DF member, it was advertised (And pictured) with rings fitted.
I wrongly assumed the ring would fit a Picatinny rail but they look like Ruger rings.
The problem I have is taking the rings off the scope.
I’ve broken 2 decent quality T10 bits trying so has anyone any ideas before i try more brute force?
Thanks. Ken.

Try holding the tip of a hot soldering iron on the heads of the screws for a bit before trying to undo them.

2 options:
1. Buy a good quality T10 bit.
2. Depending on the type of ring…cut them.

Ps…expect some ring marks on the tube

Yes, as a rule never buy a used scope that still has rings on it. Besides the problem you have now you never know what's underneath.
100% correct!

I was 'stung' when purchasing a Swarovsk via Ebay. The seller was very convincing and appeared to be a Gentleman of some standing. It was only when I removed the as supplied rings; that I have zero use for, that the compressed steel tube was revealed!
What made it worse is the rings in question weren't even tight on the tube - they could be moved by hand.

If some of the screw head is above the ring, you might be able to cut a slot for a flathead screwdriver with a hacksaw. I know that from experience, had a similar pickle where scope had stripped cheap Phillips screws on the rings.

Thanks, but that was not an option in this instance.

These are the rings in question, only narrow between clamping parts.
I initially thought the are Ruger 30mm but not sure now.
No use to me.
FI if anyone has a use hope them.
Ken.
