Scotland’s government want to keep COViD controls for ever

Some Scots Covid powers 'could be made permanent'

Un-be-feckin-leivable.
Our authoritarian numpties are enjoying being able to control every aspect of our lives during lockdown and now want to keep those ‘emergency powers’ for good.
When will the sheep stop following and recognise the ‘Tartan Taliban’ as the self serving, small minded chippy nationalists they are.
Patriotism is positive, nationalism all negative.

Absolutely disgraceful. Not in any way surprising from the SNP though. Holding on to masks for longer because it’s the opposite to Tory policy is just standard SNP tactics but trying to hold on to emergency powers is an affront to democracy. If there are parts of the powers that are useful to the people of Scotland then they should bring them back after they’ve lapsed so that they can be debated properly.

Dover district council is hanging onto requiring tip visits to be pre booked as it has shown to be more convenient for the management. EH? Power once grabbed is never willingly rescinded.

I'm glad you highlighted this piece of nonsense from the Scottish Nasty Party (and their new bestest friend in the Green extremist front!)...... Quite scary to consider that they want to keep a "state of emergency" in place for the foreseeable future - just in case of course!

Go to the gov.scot website and look under "Covid recovery : public health, services and justice system reform" , there is a section for filling in your responses - long winded, but a sneaky way of removing the need to discuss things fully in the pretend parliament that is Holyrood kindergarten. What we need is more scrutiny of the duplicitous and scheming SNP/Green coalition, not less.

Well, when your budget deficit as a percentage of GDP is running almost 10 percentage points above the rest of the UK as a whole, quite naturally you would want as much control over the electorate as possible……

For those who don’t subscribe:

Scotland’s budget deficit ballooned to 22 per cent of economic output in 2020-21, highlighting the scale of the fiscal challenge the country would face if it became independent of the UK anytime soon. The more than doubling of Scotland’s notional deficit to £36.3bn in the year to April 2021, outlined in official data released on Wednesday, was caused mainly by the huge increase in public spending during the coronavirus pandemic.

Scotland’s deficit for 2020-21, after a geographic share of UK North Sea oil and gas tax revenues was included, rose to 22.4 per cent of gross domestic product, according to the Scottish government’s annual report entitled Government Expenditure and Revenue Scotland. This compared with a deficit of 14.2 per cent for the UK as a whole.

The data also showed a relative fiscal weakening for Scotland. In the year to April 2020, Scotland’s deficit was 8.8 per cent of GDP, compared with 2.6 per cent for the UK.

Stop it doing what?

I'm sure I remember Wee Eck Alba man (All Lassies Bend Aver) telling us oil was going to turn Scotland into the Brunei of the north Atlantic.
So what's Snippy going to power her people's republic with?

The still a member of the Scottish communist Party first minister loves the power trip.
She will only give up trying to control everything about your life when she retires to France with her girlfriend.
As we naughty englanders wrecked her chance to become a E,u commissioner she,s going to take it out on Scotland.

Send her one mass "get tae feck" and she's powerless. She has to be voted into office. You only become imprisoned if you consent to it.

In our area they’re considering making staff cuts because there are so few folk booking in visits to the recycling point, but anyone who goes without a pre arranged appointment time booked gets turned away, even when nobody else is at the drop off point. The staff there point at the big bruva camera and tell the hapless would be womble that the person employed to watch them would see that they are not booked in and that problems then would occur - ”more than my jobsworth” (even if soon, it won’t be your job)…😳

The neighbouring authority has stopped the booking system, and are ‘doing brisk trade’ as a result.

You forgot to mention the impending inflation, which is shortly going to make all our lives a bit more ‘interesting’ in terms of affordability. When client state meets inept governance, you’ve got a bit of a recipe for enduring decline.

True, though somehow I feel that's likely to hit all of us, not just those North of the border. :(

Thankfully I am reasonably well stocked ;)
