Scotland or Exmoor advice

Seeing as the original poster has very recently joined with a total of three posts (this was no.3) and potentially considering 500 acres on Exmoor - £8,000,000 plus? - stay in Walter, La La land
Are you perhaps suggesting that there should be a minimum post count on SD before anyone is allowed to buy land with deer on it? 😂😂😂

Joking apart, people are buying and selling land all the time. Nothing unusual about it. Good luck to the OP.

If you give me 8m I will find you 500 acres if I can keep the change😉

Devon would be a great destination, just check on access rights across the property etc, having dealt with these things it is amazing what can be overlooked. A nice 500 acres will increase in value with a bit of management and infrastructure.

In all probability a wind-up. A brand new member straight from introduction with a ton of money....... maybe he has a long lost uncle based in Lagos
Two rather varying parcels of ground with the behaviour of deer and the method of stalking most different

Unless you’re buying woodland with no woodland neighbours (contractors), 500 acres in Scotland is very little. You can also not sell your deer in Scotland it seems, so they come back with you in the car

No brainier IMHO

With the budget for 500 acres on Exmoor, rather more than 500 in Scotland would be on offer.

To give the op the benefit of my doubt, I think that a few invites should put my reservations at rest.......

Of course this is a “wind up” .
If you were actually looking to spend £3,000,000 on land purely for deerstalking, who is going to base their decision on a few “words of wisdom” from random strangers on the internet? Only a complete idiot would do that.

You go look at the land. See what deer are there. Meet the neighbouring landowners.
Discuss the management practices in the area. At least that’s what I’m going to be doing when I buy the land in Norfolk…..

It is possible that's what he's doing - asking around. We don't know so we just have to take the request at face value until we know otherwise.

What I will say is that if he turns out to be genuine and the next post is "I don't really know much about stalking, would anyone care to come along and show me the ropes and you can have free access because this place is full of deer" then all of a sudden he'd be everyone's best friend and the experts would descend on his inbox in their thousands.

Nobody would ask around in such a generalised manner to gain useful information.
Devon or Scotland ?
The are bits of both Scotland and Devon with feck all deer of any kind, and bits that are crawling with them. so none of us can possibly help in any way based on such a vague description.

I agree with most of the comments on Devon- but it's pretty close to being ruined.

The right bit of land on Scotland and you would feel free. Genuinely wild and breathtaking.

Unless you had 500 acres to sell
