Knowing that there are a few foodys on here, thought I might see if I can discover a new favourite cheese. I'm a self admitted blue cheese addict, especially with a large port or 4.

My personal favourite is montagnolo affine. Very creamy, luxurious & dangerously moreish.

Im obviously blessed living in notts to have lots of great stilton places nearby. The welbeck do a fantastic one, can't remember name now, something weird like stiltonly. Really good.

So, c'mon what do people suggest I try next?

You must be referring to Stichelton!

At one time I couldn't even stand the smell of Blue cheese but I suppose with age your taste buds change and I love the stuff now but I'm no connoisseur

Courtyard Dairy nr Settle have great cheese of many varieties, including the blue vein varieties.

A decent Gorgonzola, Lanark Blue, Strathdon Blue, Roquefort, but the Stichelton takes the biscuit tin, as well as the port!

nothing better than a blue cheese.

While Stilton is a favorite, I also love Blue Murder which has a soft texture rather than the typical crumbly texture.

As soon as I saw the thread I was going to answer with Montagnolo. It has been known for us to eat a whole one over Christmas!

Try some Cashel Blue next

I will happily scoff just about any blue cheese on offer, apart from Danish Blue which I consider cheap factory rubbish.
I agree that Montagnolo is rather tasty, and I do like a nice Roquefort, but the UK’s offerings are quite superb.
There’s a fantastic good old fashioned cheese stall within Grainger Market in the centre of Newcastle that has a vast array of local cheeses, I can never remember what I’ve eaten (no doubt something to do with the Port), but I’m heading up there this Friday as it is my Wife’s birthday, I shall endeavour to report my findings.
