Section 1 shotgun slugs and shotgun barrel in same safe

I've got 2 gun safes, one for ammo and one for guns and shotguns......my gun safe is getting pretty full and was thinking of storing my shotgun barrels in the ammo safe and leaving the receivers in the gun Safe in order to get an extra rifle or two......... I was just thinking hypothetically where you would stand legally if section 1 slugs were in the ammo safe with shotgun barrels?.......... would this be legal since the receivers are kept separate in the gun safe.

Cheers

As always, good to go to the HO publications -

Although 2.46 says it is best practice to store separately, it doesn't say it is a legal requirement.

I'd just get another safe, either ammo or firearms. A slab or two of slugs would take up an inordinate percentage of space in a separate ammo safe. I put a couple of slabs of 7.5s in my ammo safe, just to work out what would fit alongside other stuff.

How the people with just the little ammo locker inside the rifle safe manage, I just don't know!

TBH I reduced my slug allowance so I didn't have to struggle with storage if I filled my allowances.

I wouldn't think it unreasonable, give it a go.
If the FEO has a different view come renewal time you'll simply just have to change it until then I would just carry on.

Without knowing your storage situation as to the amount of shotguns and type, sect2 barrels are not a controlled item/part, they don't need to be locked away, so can be stored safely outside the cabinet and free up space for you

This thread was a hypothetical one.......I just wanted to know what the legalities were
