Sharing of a firearm

Does anyone have experience of sharing a firearm between two FAC holders and how it stands for storing it in two different households?

Just curious what other areas requirements are as my FEO said just to e-mail the firearms dept. and write the firearm onto the other persons FAC filling the slot they have for it.

Yes. A similar arrangement. The guns involved are listed on both certificates. Each person's ammo allowance is separate.

I've got my brothers rifle on my cert... the wording simply stats to be borrowed as and when required from such and such. So long as its on your license and the other parties licence then storage isn't an issue.

My late father had my 243 on his certificate,to be used for stalking as all his other rifles were for range use. He was limited to 40 rounds possess/acquire to cover any trips.
He was with Norfolk,I'm with Thames Valley,no problems whatsoever.

I used to have the hunt .32 humane killer on my FAC for a few years until I obtained my own. So easily done 👍

Two of my daughter's rifles are also listed on my ticket. We can both use them. We originally did it in order to make shared storage and transport easier, but either of us can store, transport or use them, and we can both buy and hold ammo for them.

As above but with a son.

My and my sons weapons are on each of our certificates and I currently store all our weapons. Absolutely no issues with A@S when my son became a FAC holder.

This is what I had set up with my father. Initially I had none of the rifles and shotguns in my possession. Where it got tricky was around variations when I started to purchase my own rifles and moderators.

The firearms moved between our gun cupboards and when I went to the States to work, I took all my rifles and put them in my father's gun cupboard.

Both authorities had to be informed of any purchases and sales.

Yes, all of my rifles and shotguns are on both mine and my daughter's FAC & SGC. We share a safe and have separate ammo allowances. She lives at a separate address. It was easy to setup. The key is to ensure that everything is on each others FAC & SGC.

How would this work for a shotgun then.
Much the same in just contacting the police to let them know and having it on both SGCs?

Yes. I did this when I stored my shotguns with a friend when I was at Uni.

The shotguns stayed on my SGC registered at my home address in Worcestershire. I retained sole access to the keys to my cabinet. My friend also had them on his SGC in Manchester and retained sole access to the keys to his cabinet.

I could ask him for my shotgun when I wanted to go shoot clays with the uni team and could have the shotgun in my possession in the usual manner to do that activity. I could also take 'em home with me for Christmas and the summer so I could shoot with them back home over the holidays.

Once I graduated and that arrangement was no longer required, I collected the guns, we took em off his certificate, we notified the fuzz, and job done.

We could probably have added everything we both owned to both SGCs / FACs and shared cabinet keys, but my friend had a lot of centrefire rifles and at the time I had no FAC, so it would have been a hassle for me to get a first grant including all of his stuff and it wasn't really necessary as I needed him to let me into his house to collect my shotgun anyway.
