I'd love to start my own Venison business but cost and time are too high and not enough so I'll have to continue giving deer to friends dnd and supplying game dealer for low prices, the only pro is that some land owners now pay for the deer control as they realise the Venison money isn't in it any more
Down here you’ve got more chance in the pope coming for Sunday dinner then getting landowners to pay, did get a case of cheap beer once 🙈😂

No need for them to pay, when there's  mugs people who'll do their pest control for free. Christ, they must laugh!

The more discerning landowners are generally happy to pay a stalker, as they realise that's the best way to get the job done properly

I do believe I’ve hit a nerve 😂😂

You crack on me old cocker scratching a living your end and I’ll get me tits in the sink and crack on my end 👍

If I have another winter like last, bit of luck I’ll give away 1.5ton of venison away to those who want it, all because I can and want too.

Not at all.
I was just wondering how long it would take you to forget what you typed in post #378

I’m sure I’ve read somewhere recently that Nature Scot are looking at paying some spondoolies to bods who are willing to cull a lot more roe in the central belt, could be an interesting proposition if it comes to fruition.🤔🤔

Hi Tikka
I would agree BASC and the other shooting organisations aren't perfect ,but I am still a member . My question is who will represent you and your views and defend your rights ? When the Labour party gets in at the next election and start to change the freedoms we now have , as they surely will .

Chill
They represent your views and look after your rights?

I'm a registered food business but can only sell in skin carcasses. The inspector said that for me to be able to sell fully processed venison I would need to have my private water supply tested annually. I have a bore hole, anyone registered to process deer with a private water supply but don't have to test their water supply?

I am sure it will as it was put forward about 5 years ago. That should be about the time it takes for them to make a decision. lol.

Well eventually the ground is drier and the 100+ just happened to have a good backstop behind them. Still couldn't reduce the numbers by a large.percentage like a certain Gents good stalker but got a couple of big buck fawns, before they took off to next door.
Sadly not reducing the population just increasing it.

I understand that but working on males will not lower the number it will also not help the venison market. I agree we should stick to season just worried that some feel that a few bucks stags will reduce the number.

Stop worrying you can’t control the seasons, if I had my way night shooting would be legal and I would have the doe/hind season open until the end of April

Not really sure what you mean by this? What would you shoot this time year and isn't it best to shoot something from the group when Doe's are finished, I'm sure Ratel has been shooting the Doe's through the season when opportunity allows

Just to ask a question, because I don’t actually know?

For your niche market venison in North Wales, do you label your Farmed deer differently to Wild deer when you package it?
