Shooting Chair

Anyone found a good, strong, portable shooting chair for long nights sat out waiting?
Are the Bergara chairs any good?
Thanks

I've got the Bergara chair and it's great. For someone with a somewhat iffy back it's made a hell of a difference being able to lean back and take the strain off instead of being hunched over. It's easy and fast to setup and take apart.

I've never taken it out foxing as I tend to move around a bit, but in the pigeon hide it's spot on.

That’s good to know, I’ll be using it for foxing, I’ve got a couple of lambing fields that I’ll be watching over when they start lambing. It’s nice to take the weight of your feet for a while and have a brew in comfort!

I know it seems odd, but I have a couple of the ‘office’ chairs below that I use for sitting out for foxes. Take the wheels off, bolt on some pads to stop it sinking in the mud then drop it where you want it with a quad or pickup. I know they look odd but they’re very comfy and warm to sit on for hours on end. I picked them up for £10 each on eBay. Off they get muddy, I hose them off. 😁

Do you not fall asleep in it?

On a serious note, I use a small foldup picnic chair that was a freebie from M&S, I screwed four large caster cups onto the base of the legs to stop it sinking into the mud and made a carry bag out of camo material with a webbing shoulder strap.

It doesn't have armrests so allows me to turn to scan & shoot and I made a shortened version of the B&Q deluxe quads to put the rifle on. However, from a seated position I can shoot just as steadily with a simple homemade bipod and it's easier to move around should a fox come out either side of me.

I have a couple of the pigeon decoyers bucket seats with the swivel top but find that my back aches if sat for too long (not young any more). I also invested in a couple of waterproof cordura seat pads from Mountain Warehouse as they fold up and fit nicely in my rucksack.

I’ve used every conceivable fold up camping chair there is and they all ended up snapping on one of the joints, last night being the latest one. I thought this time id get a decent quality, purpose made chair, hopefully it’ll last a while 😬

That looks the dog's danglies, like a rear gunner in a Lanc'.
Cheap as well.
I have had one for about 10 years. Its OK. Cheap version of the idleback chair. I did modify mine slightly. I raised the back as I am 6'2" and tightened the rifle bracket so it held it more securely.
Don't use it very often but, yeah, when you know that you are sitting in one spot for a few hours. Might as well be comfortable.

I use school chairs with a x2 bars across the legs which stops them from sinking in the ground. Designed for people to sit in all day via collage schools made very well just for that reason. Last pair I brought were 12 quid.

I have to admit, I have been known to fall asleep in my comfy office chair 😂 but I can sit there for 5 - 6 hours and walk away without aching. Add a camo fishing brolly, so you don’t get covered in dew, and you’ve the perfect mobile sit out - don’t worry, it’s dark and no one can see you 😂😂

Jack Pyke tall bucket/seat and a small bean-bag cushion for me. It's handy for carrying the caller and your butties (and the cushion) and then comfy enough for a few hours sitting waiting. Rifle is supported by a pair of hazel sticks held together as an 'X' with leccy tape and paracord.

I used to have a selection of green plastic garden chairs dotted around one permission. I splashed out and bought 8 of them for a whole pound each at a car boot sale  When the landowner died I wasn't quick enough getting them out of the place before the new 'non shooting friendly' owner took over the place.

I'd recommend getting something with arms, whatever you go for. I miss them with my bucket seat.

If you're feeling flush, Idleback chair. You can get them with a rifle rest or without and use your sticks. It'll have to be secondhand as I think they've stopped making them. Great in a pigeon hide too, very adjustable. I took the rifle thingy off mine so if anyone is looking to fit one to theirs?
