it was for Reds that I wanted something a bit tougher than the SGK, Norma Oryx is another maybe choice or maybe even PartitionsI love the pro hunters and I did use them in 243. They were accurate, reliable and a no frills bullet. They put animals on the deck consistently all the way up to red stags.
I don't think you would gain much over the gameking though, another good bullet choice.
The pro-hunter is basically the Gameking only flat based . flat base are easier to get shooting well at shorter ranges and are more twist rate tolerant . for example in a std 243 the gameking is 50/50 going to work but the prohunter will work !I have been shooting 100gn Sierra Gamekings through my .243, I'm looking for something a bit more robust, does anyone know much about the Pro Hunters or have any other reccommendations
thanks in advance, Mike
Because he is shooting 243 at faster impact speeds and a lighter bullet - BIG difference !These are two .30 cal. 150gn ProHunters recovered from the far side shoulder of a 60kg boar.

Why create a problem where there is non?
Granted. But if he hits it there‘ll be a dead red.Because he is shooting 243 at faster impact speeds and a lighter bullet - BIG difference !
same is true with a 243 win and 55 grain nosler BT ! The thing to understand is Meat loss when the bullet breaks up and failures to exit really can be an issue with 243 win if you get the ballance of things wrong . 308 and its not going to be as bad by a long way . Bonded , partition or monolithic bullets are the answer to this common issue when shooting larger deer with 243 win.Granted. But if he hits it there‘ll be a dead red.
Norma Oryx is a good bullet. Or an Accubond if you don’t want to go non lead. Just got a good deal on some 6BR Oryx factory loads that I will be trialling soon.it was for Reds that I wanted something a bit tougher than the SGK, Norma Oryx is another maybe choice or maybe even Partitions
