Skull prep

Hi all,

quite a few of you use me already but thought I'd put an official advert up :D.

I've been doing skull prep for friends for quite a few years now just for a bit of beer money and in some instances swapped for stalks etc. However at the back end of last year I thought life was too short and decided to leave my job, go self employed and have been doing this full time ever since. Best thing I have ever done! I get to deal with fellow stalkers on a daily basis as well as get my hands on weird and wonderful trophies and give them the finish they deserve. I have many heads brought to me to be cleaned, from heads from freshly shot beasts to ones that have been rotting away outdoors for several months. I can even freshen up heads that have been previously cleaned to bring them back to their former glory. I can also stain antlers from deer shot in velvet or from ones that have become sun bleached from being kept outdoors.

I am flexible and can do whatever you require. Be it just a simple skull prep and whiten or mounting on a shield complete with an engraved plaque. I have a wide variety of shields I have made specifically to my specs, in a variety of colours and finishes.

my prices include skinning, boiling and cleaning, cutting if required, degreasing and whitening:

fox/muntjac/cwd/roe £25

fallow/sika/red £30

horned animals- price varies depending on size but starts at £35

supply of shield including fitting £30-£65 (depending on size, material, finish etc)

engraved brass effect plaque including fitting £12.50

if you have any questions or would like a quote on fitting to a shield etc please don't hesitate to contact me :). I am based near Matlock, Derbyshire but have heads posted to myself from all over the UK. I have some very good quality boxes to ship the heads back in to ensure they're not damaged. I aim to have all heads returned to their owners within a week of receipt.

Thanks for looking and hope to hear from you soon

Matt

Some honest feedback from a new customer.
Having seen Matt’s post a few weeks ago I dropped a head off with him last week as I am tired of spending an hour or two getting my soft, office-wallah, hands sore and making a mess of the kitchen when I have enough to deal with in butchering a beast. Having seen the result- a nicer end product than I have managed before- I will be taking all my bucks to Matt in future. £25 the get a few hours back on a Sunday is well worth it.
I enjoyed meeting him, he is a friendly chap and his start-up business looks to be growing already. Highly recommended.

This might not be the biggest head out there but it is nice to keep them if they are interesting or it was a memorable stalk.

Ps, it isn’t a Siberian roe. I seem to have shot it at an angle like the fishing pics where people hold a 2 lb trout to make it look like a 6lb-er. Wish I could do that intentionally for my own fishing photos!
