Slow cooked roe haunch

Put a bone in roe haunch in the slow cooker this morning. Got called out on a Coastguard shout, one shout turned into three and we ended up eating the venison ten hours later! Bloody lovely! I think the slow cooker is just about the best thing I've ever bought for the kitchen.

What capacity slow cooker do you need for a whole roe haunch? I'm going to have to get one soon, but they don't look big enough.... Biggest I've seen have been 5.5 lt, any recommendations?

This was about three quarters of a haunch but it fitted in easily and mine is only an average sized slow cooker.

What did you put in along with it ?

Two packets of powdered beef casserole mix and water, nothing else. I usually make a bit more effort but went for easy life today. I added some bisto to the liquid after taking the meat out to make gravy. Mashed some spuds and job done.
