I am hoping to take a trip to South Africa hunting next year & looking for a cull hunting package, hopefully not too far from Johannesburg.

Has anyone got any recommendations for a PH from recent personal experience?

Many thanks in anticipation

Not too far from Johannesburg means you’ll probably end up in Limpopo, where most hunting grounds have high fences and where animal populations are being replenished every year because they were shot out. I’ve hunted in South Africa numerous times and would highly recommend the Eastern Cape. Yes you need a 1.5 hour flight to Port Elizabeth and it’s still a 3-hour drive after that, but you won’t regret your choice. One of my best friends is Ben Pringle. He’s an awesome guy and PH. Check him out on Ben Pringle Safaris (Facebook and Instagram). He’ll tailor a programme to your needs. Good luck and enjoy the beauty of Africa.

ahh please, this is what you say my friend...:-|

Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Northwest has lots and lots of open areas...;) these provinces are Big 5 country, do you think these big animals roam on small areas??? EC doesn't even hunt endemic animals like the 3 provinces mentioned, a lot of these animals you hunt in EC are introduced not to long ago...

I have hunted in the Limpopo area of South Africa on two separate occaisions. Yes, it was fenced. Yes, some animals have been introduced to increase the numbers / variety. Do not get "hung up about fences or stocking. The property I hunted over was in excess of 35,000 acres, and over 20 kilometers from fence to fence. It is not a small paddock or field or block of woodland. It is bloody enormous, and the animals can roam where they please. It is proper hunting. "Exotic" animals like Sable are managed there, stocked and replenished, if you have the money for them. I shot ( less expensive) plains game animals who were all indigenous to that property. It is a magnificent experience. I urge people to go if they can, you will never regret it.

Hey Patrick, I am not stating there aren’t any open areas. I’m just saying that the chances of someone ending up in small high fenced areas are significant. And I’m not even criticising that: everyone does what they want to do. Why are you saying there are no endemic animals in the Eastern Cape? Surely bushbuck, kudu, mountain reedbuck and many other species have always lived there…
