Spartan bipods

I’m trying to reduce the weight of my rifle package as my 30.06 is quite a weight altogether but love it so not changing it.
I have a synthetic stock coming but are the Spartan bipods worth the money?
Currently a Harris 6-12 inch bipod.
Any advice appreciated

Depends how often you use a bipod I suppose. I rarely use mine so removed the bulky and heavy one and bought a second hand Javelin. Easy to fit a gunsmith adapter to a synthetic stock and works well for me.

Learn to shoot off a backpack/rucksack.

Have a Spartan Pro Hunt, they are fragile and expensive.

My last 7 bucks have all been off sticks. The new ground I have for reds is more open hill so a rucksack would probably be better.

As I've said on other posts, like others, I think that 98% of all of my culls are off sticks nowadays so I'm very grateful that I saw sense and stopped lugging around the very biggest of the Harris' bipods (necessary to get over the high grass on my areas). However, I range requalify roughly 3-monthly and I'm required to use a bipod for those, going down the Spartan route has allowed me to keep my rifles light whilst using the Spartan adapter for:
  • Bipod (carried off-rifle on bino harness - used for downhill shots and "stake-outs")
  • Sticks (Blaser spigot turned so it fits the Spartan mount)
  • Quad (adapter made to fit my quad rest - just done one for @Tam the Gun)
I'm thinking of getting the new Spartan Picatinny adapter too so I can knock up an off-the-barrel mount for for Magnospeed as described on other posts on here. It's a very versatile system :thumb:

I echo what you are saying about shooting from sticks, I also shoot off a backpack, lugged a Harris around for a couple of years when I first started stalking, swapped out for a Spartan.

i do believe that the longer you stalk, the minute marginal gains allow you to evolve.
thanks @wytonpjs

shot a couple nice Roe Bucks last night using my Blaser sticks With Spartan adapter.

Bipods i feel are less of an issue than barrel length and moderators . Balance is more relevant take 3-4 " off a barrel, maybe more fit a different moderator perhaps , dont laugh but add some lead in the rear of the stock can often help . Been working on one such project recently what a difference when i took just a few inches off the barrel and swapped moderators .
BTW i take the Harris off when walk stalking ! I am also going away from bipod or tripod sticks and using a natural home made timber single leg shooting stick . Been practicing most days around the garden , set up and dry fire with the dog at heel .
I started to feel i had become slower and carried too much kit in woodland stalking . When i started you could not even purchase commercially sold shooting sticks , now there are 2. 3, 4 legged sticks
Sorry for the minor diversion but its a whole question we must look at not just Is a different make bipod better ?
