Spotting torch

Hello Everyone,
Would anyone like to recommend a good torch 🔦 for spotting foxes , I have a lightforce 170 lamp but would like a powerful torch with a long throw that would save me carrying around the heavy batteries needed for the lightforce 170.

All comments gratefully welcomed

Thrunite TN42 - good for spotting a fox broadside to about 500m. Fox eyes to 700m+ Road sign 2 miles. Will fit in a shooting coat pocket easily

Are you using lithium batteries or lead acid? If it’s the latter get a good lithium battery.
I have a couple that put out the same 7ah that my old lead acid battery box one does. But at less weight, so I have 14ah with a smaller lighter battery pack.
I also have a Tracer torch that I use for scanning with a NM800 on the rifle. It’s a good combination but I find the lamp is better for my ground.

Cluson cluebrighter 600m range for handheld spotting.
Internal battery comes with mains and car charger.
Depending on how fussy fox is you can get different coloured filters atb

LED LENSER tactical torch. 300m adjustable beam, waterproof & comes with mount plus the pressure switch for your stock if you want to keep all hands on

When on foot I use t20 with red pill or culbrite pistol type both do the job and won’t brake the bank , the t20 has been the one I favour the culbrite is a good torch but falls out of my pocket when I bend over just tab to big to fasten my pocket

NM800 with the red pill and 3 power settings used it a lot, with your set up then used it with the Drone

On low power it will give you a red glint you need.

I use a lightforce 170 with a lithium battery to spot. I find the beam a bit gentler and wider than my nm800. The wider beam helps to find them. Lithium battery weighs next to nothing.
The nm800 is a great tight beam and goes a long way but is very white and spooks foxes quicker. I prefer to be ready on sticks or bipod before I turn it on.

as i said ive been using a night sabre it fantastic, but i still think there,s a spot, excuse the pun, for the good old lightforce 170, its served me well over the years and as stan243 said above the lithium battery is brilliant bs.

Lumintop GT Mini. Tiny little thing with 750metre throw (claimed) Real world I would say happily 400metres+. Awesome little torch that runs off a single 18650 lithium battery.
