Stalkers Day at Bisley - Similar Event without DSC1?

Hi there,

I just saw a post from 2017 from the NRA at Bisley, mentioning that there is a Stalkers Day event running on Fridays (after phoning up next one to be on the 1st of Friday of August, price now being £28).

I was wondering if anybody know of a similar event to practice for the DSC1 shooting assessment, as I cannot find a similar event online in Surrey.

Thanks

P.s. The event includes check zero, practice, load test, on electronic target at 100 yards, with roe deer targets - minimum requirement being DSC1

This is not an event. The NRA allows this to enable a DSC1 holder to shoot at Bisley without holding a Shooter Certification Card in order to undertake zeroing, practice and/or load development. The “shooter” effectively acts as his own “Range Officer”. Dressing forward of the 100m firing poInt is not permitted. If you are looking at practice for the DSC1, BASC ( other training providers are available) run a Pre DSC1 shooting course specifically tailored at what you are looking at.

I wouldn’t worry about “dressing forward” but simply shoot (with NRA/RCO approval) all the position shooting that comprises the DSC1 test at 100 yards. Once you’ve nailed it think of the confidence this will provide when you take the test.

That said you do need to learn where to aim for the closer shots if zeroed for 100 yards.

Thanks a lot for the feedback here K, much appreciated.

Struggling to see whether it is possible to just take the shooting assessment for the DSC1 at Bisley as I need to do a re-take. Will keep looking!

You usually have to contact BASC and see if you can turn up to an existing course to complete it during the course. That happened during the DSC course I was on.

BASC range day on the BSRC. The sporting rifle range is a field firing range so you can dress forward under supervision. AFIK the NRA ranges are only approved for their set distances

BASC are running a DSC1 course at West London Shooting School this coming weekend. Give BASC a call to see if the course Assessor is able to fit you in for a retake.

Could this not be done at the zero range?
