Hello all,

with an impending job move to far west Wales away from three good patches in Bedfordshire, two for the Woodland Trust, can anyone advise or offer any stalking for any species in west Wales / Pembrokeshire ?

Am DSC2, first aider, open ticket.

Willing to drive a reasonable distance, and will be available at least three days a week during the season. Happy to assist with other vermin control, fence maintenance etc.

Thanks.

Pembs is a pretty dry county for deer. Few sika/red towards Cardigan but very low numbers and fairly tied up. Very few deer working they way in to the county.

Pembs is about as deer-free as any county in Britain, I am afraid.
Lots of lovely habitat, but remarkably few deer.
Carmarthenshire is a better bet, especially for Fallow.

Pembrokeshire is not as deer-free as most think but they are not there in anywhere near enough numbers to make stalking a worthwhile endeavour.

Best bet would be to head back to Monmouth/ Gloucestershire for stalking 2-3 hour drive from Pembrokeshire.
If you are up to it, might be able to have a couple of evenings foxing if interested. Where will you be staying in Pembs?
I'm near Haverfordwest

Many years ago sporadic muntjac sightings on the slebech estate and a fallow or to around stackpole, but as you say not enough to spend time on it. The muntjac never did stay.
