Stalking Trousers - any recommendations

I was in Decathlon the other day and did wonder whether some of their stuff might be OK for a season or two, seeing as it was so cheap. Any particular model strike you as being good?

Decathlon kit is good value but, as already mentioned, some of it can be noisy. I am not sure that it will soften/quieten over time.

Have a look for the "silenthunt" range in Decathlon which is very quiet.

These are worth a look if you look camo: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/actikam-500-waterproof-hunting-trousers-camouflage-id_8365041.html

I've been searching the internet for reviews on the Rovince Ergoline trousers, only found one, and he'd only worn them twice so far.. Does anyone have any info/feedback?
regards Nelson.

I get fed up with spending a fortune on clothing that gets so knocked about when shooting so I alternate between army surp olive fatigues for really dry summer and solgnac/decathlon (inverness I think) really tough, cheap as chips and you can wax the inverness Fjallraven style for extra waterproofing should you need it. not had an issue with noise btw.

For stalking? FLEECE imo.

For a final stalk in fleece is the quietest of all and those WP strides? Forget them as they are so effing noisy its not funny.

Fleece repels water to a surprising degree and I would rather come home wet with a deer than dry with none.

Get the Jack Pyke rousers with cordura reinforces knees and seat. Not elegant, but tough enough for the brush and brambles whereas other more expensive stuff just rips. the other make I really get on with is Percussion. Great vlaue from France, designed by people who do what we do in them.

I went for army surplus tropical spec trousers for the summer- impregnated with tick/biting insect repellent and not silly money (£25) on eBay- just ordered some Harlika ultimate from John Norris sale not arrived yet but good saving if they fit!

Vida pro for 3 season work, and for summer I use warm weather MTP trousers (permethrin treated). Vida Pro I coat with Greenland wax for the wetter months as it does waterproof them to a degree. They are the hardest wearing, toughest and most practical stalking trousers I've ever owned. Not as hot and sweaty (or expensive) as Harkila. Handy knife pocket in them too.

Good old fashioned mole skins work for me, bit of a sweaty gusset in the summer but for the price you can have a few pairs on the go during the week to wash the ticks off etc and aren't so paranoid when getting over barbed wire fences

neither... although with these 3:30am starts after the bucks and trying to find a clean pair of shreds in the dark I've probably come close a few times:lol:

Admittedly biased as I sell ShooterKing, but I wear them in all conditions and find they keep me very comfortable

These but in the all khaki version:

Wash at 40c when Spring arrives to remove the Greenland Wax for a lightweight & breathable summer pant. Re-proof for Autumn/Early Winter use.

What make are these please ??

have a look at shooterking, they have a winter and summer trouser, I bought the summer trousers and they are brilliant, punching well above there price range. I find them very similar quality to my pro hunters only not as sweaty.

And I'm keen to try the summer ones having had the winter ones which are brilliant for the money. Hardwoods I think they are - albeit not in any realtreeish type pattern, just good old drab.

Had some great feedback on the Fjallraven kit. Check the waterproofing though, as some are not membraned lined so will need treating.

Harkila Extreme are now finished, but the pro hunter X leather is a great option too. Yes expensive, but not in the long run over the years. Well looked after and with the leather fed, should last years and years. Cordura cloth with Goretex and leather. Ideal for walking through brambles etc.

Harkila Pro Hunter X Leather Trousers - Harkila Pro Hunter X Range - Harkila Shop by Range - All Countrywear

Loads of other options too.
If you in the South East of England, we are open 7 days or call the store on 01525 211488 and we can talk through options too. Ask for Andrew or Brendan

I have a pair of Jack Pyke Hardshell Countryman's and a pair of Sherwood Forest Kensington trousers.

The Jack Pyke ones are better in the summer as they are a bit thinner and the Sherwood ones are great in winter - They are lined for warmth and waterproof.

For the money I've been pretty pleased with them, no issues so far and they seem to hold up well to some abuse!
