Steyr Mannlicher model M

Hi everyone, I would like to start a new debate about a project of mine which ultimately might involve getting myself the Steyr's vintage model M. I always liked the look of classic germanic hunting rifles and this one seems to be a blend of the traditional schonauer rifles and the new SM12 and CLII rifes, that are made by Steyr today. I like the short rear locking action of these models much more than the new bulky and oversized sbs actions. The old action really makes these rifles short and compact. With a full stock and 20 barrel these are the ultimate woodlands rifles in my opinion. I know the plastic parts can be a bit fuzzy but spare parts seem to be readily available and some custom made exist even of metal or aluminium. So this shouldn't pose a serious challenge.
I'm a left hander and I know model M was also made in left handed action. I limited my choice of caliber to 6.5×55 or 6.5×57. And left handed models beeing extremely rare in the first place and probably expensive when they show up now and then, I might end up with a right handed rifle. Which brings me to my question. Anyone owns a model M monte carlo stock. Will it fit a left hander or is it curved to fit a right hander? Lop should be about 37 cm when equipped with german set trigger which should fit me fine as I'm a tall person.
Thanks in advance for managing to get through all my thoughts and for any help you might provide.

Rather than the model M have a look for a Luxus M, it has a single stack steel magazine and a metal trigger guard and floor plate. Stock has really nice checkering too.
By the way the “ M “ designates the cartridge length, there’s an S, L and I think an SL as well. There are generally a few on Guntrader but left hand versions are about as common as gold plated hobby horse shite.

I've nothing to help with your question but I hear you on the Model M. My favorite style Steyr Mannlicher. I wish they would have continued without the plastic parts. I see one in .270 in my future...or maybe a Mannlicher Schoenauer 1952 or MCA-- things of beauty they are.

I have a right handed Model M in .270 with a Monte Carlo stock and a single set trigger. Apart from the calibre it seems to be what you're looking for. It's not huge, but there very well could be a curve to the right. I've tried mounting it left handed and it doesn't seem to fit me at all.

I have the right handed model M in 270 with monte carlo stock too. I'm a right hander so can't really comment on how a lefty would find it. Jardly discernable curve on my stock though.

Have to say though, the bolt travel is silky smooth on this rifle. Best I have felt by far. When I do my part it cloverleafs anything from 110grain to 150grain apart from PPU.

Thank you for all your replies guys. You've been very helpful. I considered your opinions and then managed to find a Steyr Mannlicher Luxus Stutzen in 6.5×57 and with a left handed stock. Might just be my dream rifle. Will post some pics when I get it.

Don't dither, grab it, especially if the deal includes Appel mounts.
