Steyr ProHunter safebolt 308

This a Project for a fellow dealer or fac holder alike, it needs work, which is why its essentially £125 plus RFD (worth it just for a doner action alone) and not £450 plus... If nobody wants it, it will go to Holts, so this is first reserve for anyone here.

-Has bases and 30mm rings

-detachable magazine- good condition.

-threaded 20'' blued 1/2UNF

-Blue on barrel and action/receiver is good.

-black standard Steyr Synthetic stock model with repaired crack. Stock is otherwise fairly clean, with signs of use but good.

-nice trigger squeeze

-needs a new crown, thread does function but could be cleaned up.

Bore has had a thorough clean and looks good to the eye.
Borescope shows signs of corrosion but in patches, not at the muzzle where you would expect.
In all honestly my 222 has more and shoots well.

Throat is not burnt.

As a 308, a slow heavy bullet chucker, it still has life in it.

A little rust in the chamber but I am in process of cleaning that.

The action is clean and tight.

safety is clean and functions as it should.

Bolt needs new firing pin.

£150 sent to an RFD

I can even throw in a T8 mod that has seen better days, if required.

I think the crack repair is barely visible and would hold up but could easily be replaced with a Boyds, if you wanted to do something like that.

Firing pin is an easy order spare.

If you wanted the rifle re barrelled at a later date, contrary to myth - its a metric thread, not hot pressed, so not much different to changing any other barrel. I believe the SSG 69 was the only model to be hot pressed?

A lot of potential, I just don't have the time.

Anyway, any interest, just PM me.

And I can recommend Neil McKillop for a top notch re-barrel on a Prohunter (SBS) receiver.

I'm looking for a basic .308 for stalking - would this fit the bill?

What needs replacing on it - just the firing pin?

I could be interested in the T8! I'm after a nice cheap mod to stick on my .308 Tikka LSA-55....

Needs new firing pin and a new crown on the muzzle. After that I believe it would be a useable rifle and wouldn't see why it wouldn't shoot well.
New crown on a barrel is usually rather cheap to have done and doesn't require a submission to proof again.
